Millions in lottery jackpots expire every yearReply
It is funny how the Lottories make every attempt to announce the prizes so people can buy tickets (through commercial, internet, newspaper, by any means necessary) but then if there is a winner that has not claimed in about a month or 2 they keep quiet about it until it nears expiration or it expires. Why is that? I think if these lottories made more of an attempt to tell people of unclaimed jackpots, people would not miss out on claiming there money.

other then people who play daily 3 or daily 4 for $.50 and hit for $500 a few times your not going to get more than 1% who come out ahead. just like slot machines...they advertise that the payouts are 96% cash back, but only fools fall for that statistic. if you take 1000 people who spend money on slots, and 2 people hit nice size jackpots, they can just average the winnings with the people playing and say its 96% pay back when in reality, its 2 people who made a ton of cash and 998 who lost cas

I could be wrong but when they changed it awhile back and added more numbers to either the white balls or red balls, they claimed higher or even record setting jackpots were going to take place. I didn't really see any of those so to plug the stats and say the average jackpot won is going to be a certain amount(powerball website says $255 million) is silly. I usually play 5 picks on each draw which costs me $10 a week, but thats gonna now cost $20 a week? I think I'll put my $5 from pball to the

I hope if MegaMillions is thinking of making any changes as far as ticket costs, they wait until after PowerBall makes its changes to see if players prefer paying $1 or $2 for a chance at a multi-million dollars jackpot with odds of 1:175M to win it. Seem to me when the two jackpots are within $50M of each other, there'll be no advantage to playing PB. I don't like it, their sales will go down and the jackpots will not grow as before. A week ago I thought the same about Ohio's Classic Lotto. Its jackpot was higher than MM and PB and the odds of winning it was 1:14M, but it didn't happen. No one has won it since last year on 05/03/2010 and with 176 drawings since has rolled to $34.9M. Those better odds of winning the jackpot can be deceiving, it gives one the impression it's easier to win than PB or MM but with only local people playing, there could be several more MM and PB jackpots won before it falls.
