Would you change your name to claim the prize anonymously?
FOR a second I thought I was the one who wrote your post. That's what I always say. If you change your name, at least around here, takes two months top, which means, the interest in you has died down and reporters have already moved on to fresh stories. Since it could take that long to change your name, I think your only option is to choose the annuity, which is what I would do anyway for many reasons most people don't foresee. I believe you don't need more than the first payment to do your thin

Are there any statistics of percentage of PB and/or MM winners from each state?
The Wikipedia page has several mistakes, and it is clear that they have used information from Lottery Post without giving credit. It is very hard to compile an accurate list of historical jackpots, because the lottery does not always make it easy to track down the final jackpot tallies for cash and annuity. Yet people continue to steal the hard work we do here at Lottery Post and USA Mega and post it on Wikipedia without proper credit. (And I'm not mentioning the countless other lottery websites

Georgia group fights to prevent lottery winners from claiming anonymously
Have to put an * by the State of Texas
As of 1 JAN 2018, the state of Texas allows you to claim anonymously at a $1 MILLION PRIZE and above with the cash option. The negative part is that if you claim and use the annuity option to collect, after 30 days they can release your name
Still it's great they are looking out for us !!!

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
@oldghost - You are correct about the new games. There is an interesting twist to the 20X ($5 game). According to the Emergency Rule, the top prize is $1,000,000 (based on 25 year annuity) instead of the usual $250,000 or $500,000 for a $5 game. The prize comes at the steep odds of 1:2,297,142. I can't speak for anyone else, but part of me would prefer if they made the top prize lower but easier to win. I'm sure the $1M prize is a marketing gimick to advertise the greatest top prize on a $5 tick

$570 MILLION: Powerball sales surge prompts jackpot increase
Power Ball will take off today! We could see lines of players. All dreaming of early retirement.
Will we see a rollover? PB would then have the Annuity = $725 million and Cash= $456 million!!!
Congratulation to the winner/winners in Florida! MM had a good run while it lasted.

$570 MILLION: Powerball sales surge prompts jackpot increase
This current bump doesn't greatly affect the time schedule of a Billion Dollar Annuity by 01-17 or 01-20.
The Jackpot Junkies need to heighten the hype.
Widen those saucer sized eyes out to the dinner plate state.

Survey: Many investors would make questionable decisions after winning the lottery
An immediate 30-40% loss
Which means that you get 60 to 70% right away. With the annuity you get about 1.5%. A year later you get a bit less than 1.6%. Another year later you get about 1.66%.
If you wait patiently you'll get that 60 to 70% that you could have had right away in 22 to 25 years.

Another NC woman wins lottery twice in same day
Congratulations to both the North Carolina Education Lottery and the winners. Great publicity!
Michelle Shuffler chose the option of the Annuity and that works for her and her family. Kimberly Morris decided that the Lump Sum was best for herself.
Both have now won more than I have. Well done!
