Annuities -- Then and Now
Those numbers are strictly about slightly higher interest rates resulting in less cash funding a bigger annuity. Right now the top bracket for 2017 federal income tax is still at 39.6%, but trump is proposing a top bracket of 33%. 2016 taxes would have left the winner of $123.2 million with $74.4 million. A 2017 rate of 33% would leave the winner of $113.5 million with $76.1 million. Details of state deductions and federal taxes may mean that the smaller cash value wouldn't really put more in

No PB Jackpot and NO 2nd prize winner either.
Everyone is quick to judge not the drawing but most people that play. First problem that I notice is that most people who win don't have a game plan. Second when my dad was alive there was a comment about a lottery winner who did annuity and someone mentioned something about that winner. My dad said how do you know about that winner and their history terms you don't. But hey everyone has an opinion that is that. Not sure if you do pyramids or not but those numbers were

LOL. Well in the challenge I picked 20. I have been thinking and I might have an answer to the future drawings. But then again who said the powerball was easy to hit. Another thing was 2x pp. Really. When is it going to do 10x and it jumped in the annuity amt. Sounds like many are playing this game. Honestly the game is getting rediculous.

$359 MILLION: Powerball jackpot heats up
While I know how the annuity and lump sum work....I only focus on the big number. I won't lie.....that is what grabs my attention and that is what gets me excited just like those people you have pigeon holed into gray areas. We all have different motivations....and there are two sides to a coin....I chose not to sweat the small details. if I will big or small I am set.....but honestly , the bigger the better

MM cash value
I was just comparing my MM ticket that I bought last Thursday morning, which had a cash value of $41.1 million, to the work pool tickets I bought Friday morning that had a cash value of $40.4 million. So the cash value dropped $700,000 from Thursday to Friday. I don't ever remember seeing that before. I don't remember what the annuity was on Thursday as I don't pay any attention to it. Does anyone remember seeing the cash value drop before a draw took place?

1.5 billion Powerball or more for Thanksgiving 2016?
I'm not down with it going that high because I'd like to get my greedy hands on tonight's $217M. It is exciting when it goes that high, though. Any JP game, figure you end up with about 1/3 of advertised JP amount after annuity payout and taxes. About $72M for tonight's PB would be nothing to scoff at.

Cash4Life
The JP never changes because you win a for life prize. There are two top tier prizes. If you have all five numbers and the Cashball, you win $1,000 a day for life. (21 million to 1 odds) If you have all five numbers but not the Cashball, you win $1,000 a week for life. (7.2 million to 1) There is also an option to take a lump sum cash value in lieu of an annuity. G5

Congrats to the lucky Powerball winner in NEw Hampshire
Congrats to the lucky ticket holder! The article you had the link to reported that the cash value was $330.6 mil. Being that the annuity value was $487 mil raise from $478 mil, shouldn't the cash value have been raised as well? I figure it would be about $336.3 mil

$361 MILLION: Powerball rolls again
The credit for the accuracy of those numbers doesn't go to me. They're from the Texas Lottery, which publishes a breakdown of the jackpot. It's prepared the day before the drawing, but I'm not sure I've ever seen it earlier than the afternoon of the drawing date. Interestingly, in addition to the advertised (annuity) jackpot they also list the actual jackpot with a bit more precision. In this case it's $422,477,582. That's some very precise forecasting considering that their sales estimates f
