Probability of Repeats, Subsequent Draws
Thanks Colin and RJOH . This is a TUFF game. It hurts my little.... Pea- Pickin' Pick3 head. The odds are just toooo much for me to use in my little methods. In the Pick-5 games ....I always picture it as me against the odds of about 10 college football stadiums ....each one of them holding about 50,000 people. During halftime they call out the winning ticket number at all 10 stadiums .......Yeah! it's me. I can handle that easy. ha ha. OK, I can dream that high ...one in 500,000. But......

Buying more tickets = reduced odds

Number 2 as mb this week ?
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on April 21, 2004It has been 194 drawings (almost 2 yrs) since 2 came up as a megaball and you are suggesting that there is a 99% chance it may be another 237 drawings (over 2 yrs) before it comes up again? I think all 52 balls will have come twice in that amount of time if the present format last that long.RJOhThere is a finite, but small, possibility that it will never come in our lifetimes. The odds of winning the mega-millions is of course 1 in 135,145,920.

I agree with you all.MikeK,The results are more or less common probability results, but if there are certain results you don't want to repeat like combinations of 4's and 5's, you need to check the previous data, besides a sampling of the data will give you these results a lot faster than going through all the probability calculations. I've never seen any combinations of 4's or greater repeat back to back.Apagogeas,I agree, if after you figure something using paper and pencil and you want to kno

The Virginia Syndicate - CA Fantasy 5
Poet,I remembered that group being featured on the TV show How They Do That after they won. At the time the cash value of the jackpot was more than the odds of winning, so it was a good investment if they were the only winners. They managed to play 80% of the possible combinations by having exclusive use of several 7-11 stores terminals. Virgina changed their laws later to prdvent any one group of person having exclusive use of any terminals. As far I know any group or person can still buy
