$1.5 BILLION: Wednesday Powerball record jackpot still rising
If true, thank goodness. Soon as jackpot resets back to $40 million ($0.04 billion), I have no reason to play Powerball again for some time, if ever. There are various Powerball simulators out there. Ran over $1 million through one of them, and the highest prize I won was $100 a bunch of times. Lost over 90%. That was with imaginary money, so no real loss. However, for players who wagered heavy for real, many won't do that again anytime soon unless the jackpot reaches super historic levels, s

Powerplay For Powerball
Firstly, the annuity value is meaningless beyond marketing. Powerball tickets are $2 each. So it would take upwards of $584 million to buy all the combinations. However, as already pointed out, would be a lousy wager due to taxes, etc plus the relatively high probability of there be at least one other winner splitting the $930 million cash jackpot. As for adding Powerplay for an extra $1. There's many schools of thought on this, but my personal belief is it's worthwhile, since winning a lower

$1.5 BILLION: Wednesday Powerball record jackpot still rising
The restaurant story seems a hoax, but whatever. Around 80% of all combinations to be sold by draw time. However, actual number of tickets sold could be upwards of 500 million, since many combinations will be duplicated. From what I've read, over 400 million tickets were sold in the past drawing with about 75% combination coverage. The jackpot estimate is still at $1.5 billion annuity / $930 million cash. Surprising it wasn't raised today. Are sales slumping?

Why Would Anyone In Their Right Mind Choose Annuity instead of Cash Payout for Powerball?
because I would be absolutely stoked with winning $30 mill, ad have a hard time spending it,and then i get to be dismayed at much richer i am the next year and get to try investing again then again next year. and again, and again and again.... etc. say you chose an investment house that lost you %20 that 1st year? well now you know better! Not that ill be taking the annuity, but tats the sort of reasons i wouldnt mind if i got paid via one at this sized jackpot

Thanks. He said: Don't take the lump sum. You don't want to blow it all in one spot. Agree. Annuity all the way. Too much stress right off the bat too.

Are you ready for the attention?
Oh yeah, I'm ready. Gonna split the annuity with one other person and then immediately invest 4-5mil in CD's to earn a decent return my first year. After that I'll probably invest more aggressively with the future payments, while living off the interest from the first year's. So sorry to all the beggars, but its all tied up right now. I would also quickly invest in some acreage and surround a medium sized home (top of the line security system, of course) with an electric razorwire fence

I too would choose the annuity option, anyway. It's just too large a prize. I can't get my mind around it.

Thanks. It is (and always has been) a work in progress. Interestingly, over the last 10 years, the site only had roughly 26,000 visitors. But over the last week, 9,000 more visitors showed up. Somebody must have mentioned it to a few people causing this snowball of visitors. I've pretty much decided that, if I was the sole winner, I'd take the annuity. According to my state's graduated payment table, my first check would only be $19,566,866 (pre-tax). Their after taxes amount only reflects th

You're right. I forgot that PB's annual increase is less than MM's 5%. Is there a page that shows an example of the graduated scale from first payment to last payment? Here's one for my home state: https://www.usamega.com/powerball-jackpot-annuity.asp?state=AZ

GYM RICE, I thought that taking the annuity saved one from excess taxes. If you wouldn't mind, please explain the way you see it, so a 5 year old can understand it.
