The next Powerball jackpot...How high does it go from here ?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you all around the world in advance for contributing to the size of my record windfall this coming Wednesday. It would be an understatement to say I simply could not do it alone without you. So as to responsibly plan for my future budget; Please assist me in accurately determining the gross size of the annuity I can expect to enjoy. Once again, my most profound thanks, from the bottom of my heart (and the top of my wall

$900 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot to create unimaginable wealth
I vote annuity too. Even though I'll likely be dead by the time the 30th payment makes it to me. I figure the 'several' million I'll make a year, in the mean time, will be more than enough for me. But, it's how I'll split it up when I'm gone, and keeping it away from governments and so on, that would be a challenge.

$900 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot to create unimaginable wealth
MUSL may be overestimating sales. We'll see tonight. Unlike some in-state lotteries, MUSL does not honor its estimates. At least they didn't back in 2013 when they touted a $600 million annuity Powerball jackpot, and yet the Florida winner was only awarded ~$590 million... Most didn't notice that deception. However, this time around, if MUSL raises the estimate to $1 billion and only pays out, say $940 million, many will notice that, and talk about it; some feeling cheated. Hopefully, MUSL is

$800 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot approaches billion-dollar range
Cash value is now $558 Million. I tried to put that in perspective and realized that this cash value is almost as large as Gloria's annuity value. Talk about a mind-blowing realization. I'd all but given up hope that we'd see anything go past the $700 million range, guess Powerball finally found the sweet spot. The right ticket price with the right odds. I hope MM doesn't raise its price now.

Tax Issues on Lump Sum vs. Annuity Payout
For starters USA MEGA shows how much cash, amounts of the yearly annuity payments, and the amount of state taxes deducted. Your other questions can be answered by financial planners, but as you pointed out where does one find a reputable financial planner . If you take the cash, you'll pay a one time state and federal tax just like with any prize valued over $600, but there will be some tax on profitable future investments. The check that is issued to the jackpot prize winner reflects any sta

$700 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot raised just hours after initial estimate
With that amount of money inflation is not going to mean crap. My biggest expense will be my house and then I am done. I will be set for life after the first year. Sometimes annuities go up in value also. I used to work at a bank and have been self-employed now for 25 years so I know all about how to manage money and invest it if I want to. I make a great income and already have a pretty large savings. Also I have no heirs just me, myself and I. So I am tailor-made for the win. Taxes and interes

$700 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot raised just hours after initial estimate
I hope that you are young enough to live another 30 years. You will need insurance to pay the death tax on the remainder of the annuity. Otherwise, you will leave an estate nightmare for your heirs. Inflation might eat away your nest egg. Hope for lower taxes and higher interest rates. You will need to ask about how the interest rate might remain the same throughout the thirty years. Happy dreaming!!

$700 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot raised just hours after initial estimate
Players should expect that the jackpot will increase again one or more times before the Saturday drawing, and unless standing in long lines can be considered fun , players should buy their tickets early. Yeah, Todd, they are low balling it for sure. It will beat the old record cash jackpot easily. Hell, they know from last record jackpot sales amount that players can push this thing to around 531,900,000 cash or 869,100,000 annuity!

60 days to decide if lump sum or annuity, 180 days to claim. Huh?
No, it doesn't mean you have to wait two months to get your money. Once you make the election of cash or annuity they can start the process. How long it takes varies widely both by state and by game. Maryland states right on their website that it takes 15 business days. Virginia told me a few years ago it can take 2-3 weeks for a big jackpot. California says it takes 6-8 weeks which I find astonishing! In Floridia they say they can wire your FL lotto jackpot prize to your account in two days!

60 days to decide if lump sum or annuity, 180 days to claim. Huh?
From the USA MEGA site Power Ball FAQ'S... After I buy a ticket, can it be changed from annuity to cash option? Federal guidelines suggest that if you are a jackpot prize winner but did not choose the cash option at the time of purchase, you will have one last chance to choose the cash option. However, not all states adopt this guideline in the same manner, or at all. Please check with your state lottery to find out their policy regarding changing the payout option after winning the
