Colorado Lottery investigates 21-time prize winner
What is your obsession with this?
There is absolutely zero basis to think he may not be reporting the prizes, except that we all know that some people don't report some of their income. Similar reasoning means I can safely conclude that you may be a serial killer and have a penchant for animal abuse and porn. FWIW, it's not any public information that would get the IRS involved, it's the notification by the lottery about all of the winnings (for everybody, not just this guy) that are big enou

24 year-old Calif. man claims lottery riches
Thanks for the response Perfecttiming. I read that too and yet in the rules it states that the name of the winner may be public record under the California Public Records Act and therefore subject to public disclosure.
Yet they obviously do allow people to remain anonymous. I guess that is where the word may comes in. Do they not want people to be aware that they have the option. I wonder if they even let the winners know they have the choice becauase I can't believe anyone would not want

Bar codes at the bottom of lottery tickets
Every lottery in every state uses codes on the tickets. When you puchase your ticket, the numbers you chose (or the quick pick generated by the lottery terminal) are transmitted to a central computer, which records the numbers and creates a unique ID number. That ID number is transmitted right back the the lottery terminal, and the lottery ticket is then printed, including both the numbers you chose and the ID generated by the central computer.
All of that happens in maybe an eighth of a sec

Big fat tax concern...
I already have a revocable trust that holds my larger assets, namely my home and investments (not that those are extensive - even before the crash). The trust has my social security number and I am the trustee. I pay all taxes as an individual, so the trust does not have any income tax benefits. The only thing this trust does is allow my estate to pass outside of the probate process upon my death - which has quite a few benefits including preventing the nature and extend of my assets from becomi

Tenn. Lottery CEO blames lagging sales on Powerball
The lottery board is a farce. I don't know how you get appointed to serve on the board, but one of the qualifications is that you must be willing to play ball . They're supposed to oversee the lottery, but its more like they're in cahoots with them instead. The board approved (for the first time in the lottery's existence) a change in how the bonuses were paid this year...why? So they'd have a better shot at earning it in the face of declining sales, it's now determined on less cut-and-dried met

Illinois- Ball Drawings and RNG?
cosmotravis
Maybe that's a record since the Big Game and Mega Millions (the Big Game became Mega Millions).
Back in the 1980's someone hit the Illinois lotto for a $43,000,000 jackpot.
He was working as a printer and making $650 a week, good money back then, but he said he'd keep his job. That lasted about one month.
Interesting stat about Saturdays, good research!

Mega Millions win in Washington, Michigan for $42 millions.
Well, that's three winners in southern Michigan now, don't anyone else in this state will win for awhile and of course if someone does it'll probably be again in that part of the state. I'd say that it was interesting on how each location is almost off the same interstate but I guess not too surprising since each one is in a highly populated area with one in the south west part of Michigan (Grand Rapids area) and the other two are in the southeast/Detroit area of the state which I know makes up

North Carolina 9/1 - 9/30
Thanks TB-
What can I say? The NC LP Family is the BEST and the GREAT-EST! You guys and gals brought your A game to the numbers in September.
As I stated a couple of weeks ago (and I'm only speaking for me), the LP Family is coming up with so many super numbers, that the NCEL system has to go back and pick a number that's already hit. Apparently, the numbers were so awesome today, that NCEL broke the Sept '07 record by having the same number hit three times in the same month!
YOU WINNE
