End of year analysis - QPs vs Self-Picks
Agreed justxploring.
Rather than the public know who the winners of jackpots are, I would rather just know if they won it own their own numbers or if they won it on qp's.

Powerball lottery to have larger jackpot, but harder to win
Powerball lottery to have larger jackpot, but harder to win
Basically the same thing they said about the last 2 matrix changes and we all know how that worked out jackpots were won at or about the same dollar amounts as in previous matrix's. None of them never reached the projected 400 to 500 million dollar amount.

Claiming with a Trust but securing ticket with name
i live in california which i think makes me ineligible to claim jackpots anonymously, unless i use something like a trust. up til now, i have been signing my tickets as soon as possible to make sure no one else can claim my ticket in case i won. the problem with this is if i happen to win, i have to claim it in my name. is it possible to secure my ticket by writing my name somewhere on it, then if i won, i could set up a trust and write its name on the ticket? and if anyone has information on ho

MM hit...no record this time.
Oh...look no surprise. Another big jackpot won in Ohio. That state sure has seen their share of large jackpots. Its kinda surprising for the amount of tickets they sell compared to other states. Well that state sure in lucky!

$170 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised
Looking at the past year I'm a bit surprised they bumped it that high. The $30 million increase last May had actual ticket sales of just over 59 million. With the higher cash value, this increase of 37 million would be equivalent to an increase of almost 42 million last May, and will require sales of about 78 million tickets. That's 32% more than sales for similar annuity jackpots last May. Last February an advertised jackpot of 220 million had sales of 77 million tickets. The cash value of that

Are Canadians taxed on lottery prizes?
not quite right, the jackpot isnt taxed here in Australia, but there is a tax. You see our gov isnt too keen on waiting around for jackpots to be won before collecting its tax. So there is a tax paid by every player at the time the ticket is purchased.
so no winnings are taxed , but its not tax free.

$170 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised
The same types of games often seem better in another state. I use to drive to Indiana to buy PowerBall tickets because it has fewer bonus numbers and matching 0+1 pays $3 instead of $2 like MegaMillions and their jackpots were sometimes bigger than MM.
I finally decided no lottery game is perfect all the time, most times there are going be one that has a better payout or a bigger jackpot somewhere else so now I stay local and play what ever is available. Winning a jackpot will be just as swe

How many of you are "dolla Powa" players?
good philosophy.(sp) That's the way i started playing last week. Walk in and get the il state lotto for three draws and powerball for two. then putting the tickets away and checking every three months, unless of course someone hits it in my little town -- which will force myself to check the tickets.
about 35minutes from indiana, so when their jackpots grow to 50mil or 5mil will make the trip over there and play the same way.

Powerball matrix change
Even with 59 WB and 39 PB the overall odd of winning something will be 1:35 which will continue to make PowerBall competitive with most state jackpot style games. Since jackpots are seldom won, it's those small winnings that keep players coming back to try again.
In Ohio I play MegaMillions more than I play Classic Lotto because the odds of winning something with MM (1:40) is a lot better than with CL(1:54). The smallest prize for both games is $2.

Pretty much...
Now if this had been one person or even two people in the same family won two jackpots on the same day....
