Was that the official concession speech from Mega Millions?
I wouldn't say it's a lack of confidence but rather a lack of support. They were wrong in their projections (scary since they are supposed to be conservative) and actually had a shortage of funding. I suppose this should be expected given it is only the first run in the matrix, but a shortage has occurred several times already. On top of being short in funding, the annuity factor decreased from 1.869 to 1.848. This means last night's advertised $344 million jackpot was only worth $339.1 million.

My 1st post interesting, but also depressing
That is a good tool for many here to use. A lot of people have no grasp of how inflation diminishes the value of a dollar. The CPI calculator may shed some light on those who believe the annuity option is ideal especially one that is heavily back end weighted. The CPI index has been somewhat mild the past 20 years but it was brutal in the 1970's-1980's. I have absolutely no doubt we will all experience a non favorable rise in the coming years.

$344 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot skyrockets
After giving it a lot of thought, I'm going with the annuity option guys. :) I'll invest a lot of the first payment smartly in some good technology startups and have the cash value in less than 15 years. :) How much money does a man need to live? I don't need that lump sum payment the first time. Afraid I lose it all somehow. I'll write a good will leaving future payments to my daughter. I got this, rgdr... :) I almost got it once. This time it won't escape me. https://www.lotterypost.com/

$297 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot raised again before tonight's drawing
Compared draw to draw, the sales are lower, period. This matrix has not started from a first draw, but matched jackpot to jackpot, and draw number to draw number, as well as on both the Pre-$2 Powerball, and Post-$2 Powerball, they are lower, dramatically so in the former case. The $651 M MM (Annuity) jackpot occurred on a 19th draw. The coming one is a 20th draw. I'm at a loss to see how you can say they are higher.

$291 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot enters top 25 list
I see that West Virginia is on the annuity list @ #19 that must be Jack Whittaker, that doesn't show on the CV list, I guess it did'nt make the top 25. Also I see Jersey on the list 2 times in 2007, if I remember right these 2 wins were in cape may county (next south to me) and have not anything bad about those winners.

Is Mega Millions paying ?? Or are the odds just too high?
Well, it's close... They slashed payouts for every sub-jackpot tier except the second which I'm sure that along with the massive odds increase (as if they weren't massive already) turned a lot of people off, also doesn't help that a lot less money is going into the jackpot thanks to the changes and it's rising slower than ever. The cash option is currently only 54% (rounded) of the annuity amount where as before it was up to 69% (rounded) and I think slightly higher at a point or two. Less

The New Mega Millions Game - So Do You Like It Or Not?
There is enough of a MM and PB large jackpot history to almost predict when the ticket buying frenzy will start and sales are usually less than $60 million when the jackpot is under $200 million. In the past it took $300 million jackpots to produce $100 million in sales. And let's not forget the jackpot value changed when they changed the game. For a fair comparison, it must be cash value and that site uses the annuity value. Megaplier sales are about 45% higher and will be interesting to see
