Last-minute lottery ticket wins $254 million Powerball jackpot
I doubt it was a mistake ticket. When the jackpot's get really large and they expect that there will be an increase in ticket buying a lot of places will print up a bunch of $5-$4-$3 tickets so they can save time. However, I see alot of people superstitiously turn these tickets down wanting their tickets printed out when they stand there, so I would bet somebody probably did turn it down.

Good let capitalism decide this. And hopefully to compete with other gambling interests lotteries will increase payback percentages and give us all a better chance.

6 Disturbing Lottery "Trends"
My 4 cents (price increase from 2 cents): 1) Computerization is done 1. to reduce staff and cost and 2. to try to make drawings as mathematically random as possible to ensure fairness. I DO NOT LIKE such games and I rarely if ever play them until/unless I come up with algorithms that can beat them. The Lottery should provide software or something that players can use the same RNG (perhaps installed in the terminals) which would still be fair but this way you're using the same thing to pick wi

Georgia Lottery sales hit record $1.56 billion
There really isn't any. But, as long as global temperatures increase (never mind that it finally feels like winter in NY), who would want to wear a jacket, whether or not it has to do with a lottery?

New York Lottery making some changes
The NY Lottery can do whatever it wants to NY Lotto. But the only thing that will make it a better game is an increase in the payout percentage. Imaging buying a $2 ticket and on average winning only 80 cents.

N.C. Lottery sales fall short
I tend to tune out commercials but I can't remember the last lottery commercial I saw. Increase the payouts on the scratchers too. NC is losing sales because of it, especially on the borders. I still buy gas and smokes across the border and see a lot of NC plates.

Ohio Lottery to ditch Lot 'O Play game over lack of interest
The problem with the Ohio Lottery is that it is monopolistic. Their true effort is to reduce the jackpots and increase the profitability. People who win want to be millionaires not thousandaires. I doubt they will listen to this although I have written them before.

Group thought it hit the lottery; it didn't. OUCH!!
I agree. I only think about joining a pool sometimes to increase my chances but it can create so many problems. However, if the tickets had been copied or scanned for each member, at least the error would have been caught. I also agree with other members here that we're not getting the whole story. Why would someone suddenly buy quick picks?

What is up with MM/PB
Jackpots could be smaller because the number of people playing has decreased. I know quite a few people who have just stopped playing because of the odds, and they play scratchers instead. I think they should increase the payout for getting the mega ball, from $2 to $5.
