$208 MILLION: Massive Powerball jackpot to be drawn Wednesday
By Todd Northrop
There was no jackpot winner in the Saturday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $208 million for Wednesday's drawing.
Saturday was the 11th consecutive Powerball drawing without a jackpot winner. The jackpot run started Dec. 29 as a $40 million jackpot.
The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $130.7 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot

It now appears certain that Megamillions will go 6 months...
...without producing a single jackpot over $100M annuity.
Megamillion sales are down, probably mostly because people are foolishly forking over money for Powerball, even though it's half the value of Megamillions when one accounts for the expectation value.
(The last giant Powerball jackpot showed pretty much that it is impossible for Powerball to produce a jackpot with an expectation value greater than one, something that Megamillions has done many times.)
It's predictable. The lottery

Biggest lottery game ever in the works?
l think l have the answer and solution here. First and foremost the ticket will be only $5 but there will be some extra stuff like a free quick pick for every $5 purchase will be printed on ticket. Two you must have a photo id to be scanned into the system and stays there untill you are a certified losser it will then trash you but if you win youre identity won't be a mystery so it will have its own supper id scan. Three it will have a bonus draw for a free lamborghini or ferari and free fuel an

paying taxes on a $1,000 scratch-off
Good luck to you too.
Ive been playing too long and losing too much.
We cant be the only ones that either play for a decent annuity amount or big cash payout.
I figure the approximate after tax lump sum payout now to figure out which games to go for. Forget what they advertise the JP to be.

Kansas couple claims $9.43M Hot Lotto jackpot
Fun speculation math. However, gamblers should presume that it is only the state gambling/income tax % and the 1st of 2 federal gambling/income tax of 25% (recipient would end up having the high, additional apx. 14% donation deductions or federal gambling/income taxes to pay them self at a much later date, after receiving the funds into personal checking/investment account via electronic transfer).
Thus, you'd be netting essentially the same amount as most of our states' on-line lotteries tha

really?
You got one thing in your favor, your odds of ever having to do that are the same as your odds or winning a lottery jackpot. Chances are you'll never have to do that but if you do you'll be paying the same tax rate as someone who physically earned the same amount of money.
The annuity amount doesn't exists, it's the expected returned if the cash is invested for 25-30 years and you only use a small potion of the cash during those years. It's like saying every time you spend $50 on a carton of

Why can't Massachusetts have the exact same lottery raffle they had last year?
Hi Lucky6025,
I'm in total agreement with you. I'm also in Mass. You are right about the billions of profits the lottery makes each year but the payoffs are lousy Like yourself I've never understood why when a person wins a 1 million on a scratch ticket why they can't get the full 1 million less taxes of course. I understand how the annuities work if you decide to take it over the course of 20 years but you should not be penalized for taking the lump sum instead of the annuity. I think it's d

$550 MILLION: Powerball buying frenzy sparks another jackpot increase
I got a family member to get me (or I guess 'us') a ticket. We have texts that show an agreement and a picture of the ticket so I can see numbers. This is about as much of a pool as I'd like, but it was too quick of a decision to simply have it sent out.
So I'll be rooting for a Texas winner tonight, though I'm thinking a north-eastern state. I'll be following my MM routine of not looking at results until the next day (I still don't know any of the numbers I have on my multi-draw QP for

$325 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot goes through the roof
The default powerball jackpot is already around 18 million after taxes. It's 40 million starting jackpot for the annuity option, roughly 30 mil for the cash option, then take into account federal and state taxes and that takes you to around 18 million.
As far as being excited for every jackpot, keep in mind each ticket is $2 and the chances for matching 5+ mega in the current powerball matrix is astronomically high against you. The jackpot needs to be over $150 million for most people to get
