Jackpots won back to back again
Despite the recent increase in jackpot wins for both games, it still is not as bad as it was for Powerball in early 2005, when for eight straight runs, the pot didn't even break $50 million, and for three times in a row, the jackpot was won on just the third draw of the run.

CA Super Lotto Plus
I was wrong with my prediction of what the CA SLP will roll (increase) CASH Only. My prediction was CA SLP would roll 4 million. However, it still set a new roll 18 low of 70 million (gain of 6 million).

N.C. Lottery will not generate expected revenue
North Carolina scratches have a lower prize return than South Carolina's and the other bordering states. NC needs to increase the payout % on its scratch games, and not rely heavily on PB for revenue.

Protecting your numbers
I will phrase is differently then. What can someone do to increase there upside in a lotto that is a truly random sample? That would be to pick numbers that other are not likely to predict, because in the event of hittting a Jackpot, it would cut your upside.

N.C. lottery winner claims big prize
The 30 year annuity does NOT reduce the cash payout! The cash payout numbers have remained the same. It's the annuity payout(the advertised jackpot) that has increased. The reason is that Powerball now adjust the annuity to increase by about 4% each year to keep up with inflation. You can read about it by going to Powerball.com and read through the FAQ section.

The Vertical String System
BTW, my limit at Betslips.com, I think, is $750 per week maximum bet. Of course, if you hit some big wins, then they increase the amount they allow you to bet. Just like Vegas!!

mega millions vs. powerball
Upping the matrix without adding new states is a gamble, since it usually results in players buying less tickets when the jackpot is $100 - $200 million, making it take more rolls for a record jackpot. On the one hand, that does increase the game's chances of rolling over on any given draw, but on the other hand, it has to survive more draws to get to a record. The Powerball officials just got lucky.

Florida Lotto
You're so right. I've always thought the best thing for Lotto to do should the payout actually increase to 60% is use the money to keep the payouts the same while free tickets are given away for 2/6. Naturally, if they just add a free ticket prize and keep the payout the same, there will be more winners in each category even though the amount of money going to it hasn't changed. That means lower payouts.

Powerball Sets A New Record
lol However, its opening cash jackpot is the lowest its been since the matrix change ($6.6 million, actually less than Mega Millions'). Damn increase in interest rates!! Of course, 30.28855% of first draw sales is probably only about $4.4 million anyway, so the guaranteed jackpot is still above the amount of sales actually allocated to it.
