Casino says no way to $62 million slot machine payout
I was on a 50 cent machine and hit something, the call lights came on and 3300 was blinking in a window below the reels. At first I though I won $3300 but on the payoff schedule what I hit was for $300. When the attendant came they said the reason machine malfunctioned (3300 was the error code) was because it was suppose to be a $600 win and the reels stopped at the wrong place. The attendant paid me $600 plus the credits I had in the machine and placed a do not play sign on the machine. We

Minnesota couple claims $229M Powerball lottery jackpot
I guess the key here is that they indicated they have not decided annuity or cash. They have the luxury to claim fast, but hold off on the decision until they have consulted with whoever they decide to consult, AND go into semi-hiding. This does null claiming in a trust or limited family partnership. I still think they should have consulted first, after putting the ticket in either a bank lock box or fire proof safe.
I won't claim until I know I can afford to go into hiding, assuming I can't

I have a question about when a group of co-worker hit a jacpot game
Why do you and others who agree with you think the annual payment is the best choice? I'm interested in knowing because my answer is different depending on which day someone asks me. I honestly don't know. If a winner takes the Cash, it still needs to be put into a bank . Try going to the bank the next day and asking for a $10,000,000 withdrawal. ;o If there's a $3000 a day withdrawal limit, it would take 20 years just to get the money out of the bank. lol ;) If a winner takes the annuity, these

I have a question about when a group of co-worker hit a jacpot game
With all the State Gov'ts having budget problems.... do you really think they may not think twice before letting you get your annual lottery winnings? Maybe they'll move the payment from February to November, so they can get more interest for all the money they spend. And they won't care if you cry because your Porshe's payment is due in March.
NC gov't holds back people's tax returns for months, even though it's illegal, because they need the interest to pay the people who returned their tax

Minnesota Lottery suspended during government shutdown
I think we're misunderstanding exactly what happened. The lottery wasn't shut down to save money; it wasn't shut down because of a lack of funds. It was shut down due to failure to pass a budget. The US Constitution says that money cannot be spent from the national treasury unless it's appropriated by Congress. It's likely that every state constitution has a similar provision that only the legislature can authorize spending money. The immediate problem isn't that the money isn't there, but that

so you won 50 million dollars now what??
I hope I win 50 million in the UK lottery, I am a subscriber. Firstly, is totally tax free. Secondly, you get the full about, if you win 50 million, you get 50 million, no annuity nonsense. Lastly, the UK Lottery winners have a right to anonymity, so I would not have to worry about lunatics coming after me.
If I win 50 million in a US lottery, I subscribe to the NY Lottery, I would contact a very reputable lawyer, beware some lawyers are reputable. I would try and claim the prize money a

Ohio lottery winner to help charities, friends
Congratulations on your big Ohio Lottery jackpot win Phil.
Phil, I realize you want to share, however, you probably shouldn't give away any of it, since the $5M annuity amount after 35% federal and 6% state will only net you $2.95M at end of apx. 26 years or so of payouts.
Phil, it's never too late to change your announced plans. Probably the best plan would be to collect the apx. 1/2 cash, lump sum amount instead. Either payout method, you could use quarter of net monies prize to pa

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
VD: the answer is.......there is no way to tell,
Anyone who buys QPs including me will say the same thing. But there are players that after looking at the QPs will ask to exchange them. Most of us buy QPs to get a piece of the action with very little hope of winning anything. We can say the satisfaction and the entertainment value starts after buying the tickets and before we know the results. If we hear the Jackpot was won in NY and we bought our tickets in California, we know we didn't win
