Will you take your $207 million win in cash?
Drug deals traditionally required bringing cash. Now they are going to go down something like this: Hey, did you bring the drugs? Yeah, I got the drugs. You got the annuity?

N.C. man claims $141M Powerball lottery jackpot
Why even advertise an anuity amount? Doesn't it make more sense to advertise the amount a winner will recive in one lump sum at the time of of the drawing? Why don't they put the cash value in big numbers and the annuity amount below in small letters? It is misleading. Looking up the definition of FALSE in the dictionary, one of the definitions is c : intended or tending to mislead IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING

Winning the Jackpot and taxes.
If one takes the annuity, is it a resonable fear that the government will loose your money or not give it to you? Our country is in a trillion dollar debt afterall. If you take the lump sum cash and decide to just live off that without investing at all, is it possible to go broke just from paying taxes? jwhou, you seem to be very well educated on this topic. If you won the JP, how will you go about securing your winnings? What kind of bank account will you get? Obviously a normal checking

Winning the Jackpot and taxes.
Yes there are ways to minimize your loss of money through strategic investments but remember what brought us to our current economic collapse. There was a huge amount of wealth sitting in the various mutual funds and investment accounts all looking for AAA rated investment securities such that people found ways to repackage sub prime mortgage backed securities as AAA rated securities by creating derivatives, the rating programs at the time treated each derivative as an independent risk much as e

Non-lottery forum poll
joker17, You didn't mention quick picks or not and cash option vs annuity....... But since you had the chutzpah to bring this up I have to mention maybe splitting the Mystical forum into Things Mystical and Dream Number Requests. Talk about topics getting buried. Yeah, I know, you can search for your own threads, and such, but anything that isn't a dream requests gets buried so fast that anyone clicking on active topics just isn't going to see them.

Lottery winner lost money after investing funds
The best part is this seems just like a repeat of the story about him over a year ago, which is conveniently linked over on the right side with the related stories. https://www.lotterypost.com/news/183368 There are just as many things to take into consideration with taking the annuity as there are with taking a lump sum.

Does anybody else disagree with graduated annuities?
Any government agency is the last place on earth I would trust with the future of my money. I'll take the cash option and buy everything I need right away before the dollar loses any more value. I'd trade a big chunk for precious metals, get off the grid and prepare to hunker down in case the current government succeeds in destroying the currency and the country before we can vote them out. No way I'd take an annuity in the current environment. It could be worthless in short order. Things hav

Lottery winner lost money after investing funds
Again...70% of lottery winners go bankrupt within 5 years of winnng the money? Another shocker is that the financial advisor quoted in the article said you'd do better to take the annuity then to take the lump sum - I've never heard that before. Please enlighten me.

Weeks from losing house, couple wins $7M lottery jackpot
If the dollar would colapse because of the current out of control US deficit - you would wish for the cash option and proper income producing investments and some prescious metals because the annuity would be worthless !!! This is just a fact of the current trend of out of control Federal spending ! Current Federal economic experts
