would you still play?
Sever the tiny thread that connects lotteries and jackpot amounts to reality. Instead of just billboarding a phony amount and having real winners hold a phony-sized check, sell tickets, announce winners using hired actors with fabricated histories from imaginary places. Two advantages here. They can announce jackpots as large as they like, thereby pushing the envelop for whatever it takes to get the most ticket sales, and they never have to give any money away.
Don't they do t

Robert Serotic
And now, according to this thread, he's painting houses to make a living?
Must have spent all his winnings trying to get more jackpots?

powerball and mega millions matrix change
Unless Powerball has Florida join I don't see a matrix change for it. Depends how the next year goes.
For Megamillions, if they still are struggling to have larger jackpots I would hope they would change the matrix. I'm not holding my breath however.

$100 worth of tickets from 4 different states
Jersey has a decent pick 5 game - although it is 40 numbers. When the (rolling) jackpot gets high enough, I sometimes head over and p/u a few tickets. The most I have won is 3/5 ($10) however.
The NY pick 5 game blows (gee big surprise) - no rolling jackpots. I have seen as many as 7 or 8 first prize winners for that game. Imagine finally nailing the big won and all you get is $5k (after taxes)

If a friend...
Large Jackpots mean large tax burdens in my State. I'd split the burden with a friend.

Does anyone know a website that reports cash values?
I'd like one that compares the cash values of various jackpots.
You can find lots of places that give you the annuity values, including Lottery Post, but few that will give you all the cash values.

mega millions vs. powerball
its hard from me to win anything off PB. The most I have ever won is $23 off a multi draw ticket and that was bout 6yrs ago. I usually come up with about $40 a month on MM so my vote is with MM.
I will also agree with an earlier post that MM needs to come up with some kind of change for higher jackpots. The PB matrix seems to be working in their favor.

mega millions vs. powerball
Quote: Originally posted by bellyache on June 3, 2006I picked Powerball, because it's the one I play in my state.
Me too, although I voted "not sure," because both games usually have heavy jackpots, although since the latest matrix changes, Mega Millions has been won three times when the cash jackpot was under $50 million while Powerball has had only one cash jackpot under $50 million awarded.

Fla. Fantasy 5 lottery player wins $241,000
The free QP prize definately had something to do with it (and was something they needed for a long time). But the primary reason is the fact so much of money that once went to the jackpot now goes to the 3/5 and 4/5 prizes. A smaller % of sales in the jackpot means smaller rollovers and smaller jackpots. But really, most of us will probably never win a jackpot of any kind, but we will most likely win a 3/5 here and there (if we play). So I like it when the winnable amounts get a good chunk of th

Euromillions in the dumper
Well some of that depends on what the euro, pound and dollar are worth. Tickets are 2 euros or 1.5 pounds.
I just find it odd that the participating countries were quick to put a jackpot cap in place but a long roll of jackpots never getting higher than the starting point just gets silence.
