Actually the wire transfer...if you were the sole winner would be for roughly $191 million as only 25% Federal tax is witheld initially. You would owe another $25.5 million (Federal top tax rate is 35%) when you file your 2012 income taxes. I find it funny how the media really makes it sounds like as if the sole winner would get the entire $356 million as a lump sum if won.
