Favorite / Hated Lottery Games
For me being a Delawarean, I am pretty much limited to Powerball. I'd have to have a reason play the Pick 3/4 and I avoid the pathedic Multi-Win Lotto (PA's version has higher jackpots and better odds, MD's will too when it comes out next month). Starts at $50K and increases by $2K 3 times a week? Few winners, fewer players. When I cross the border, I'll usually pick up a Mega Millions or Cash 5 ticket. With MD I enjoy a round of Keno if setting is right and there's others playing it. With PA I'

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
The powerball jackpot has rolled. The cash value is now $56.5M; the annuity value is $115M. The Powerball sales figures are not as regular as those in MM, and not as many averages are available for large jackpots, since the maxtrix change is comparatively recent, the end of Aug, 2005. My crude estimate is to assume that the lottery will have $23.6M in sales, near the average figures for the last lottery runs at this level. If the lottery sells this amount of tickets on this drawing, the pro

Would you play this game?
I'm making this up myself, just curious.Illinois Little Lotto used to be 5/ 30 with a $200,000 jackpot and aggregate prizes for 3 or 4 hits. The odds on that were about 141,000:1.Now it's 5/39 with a progreesive jackpot and set amouints of $1, $10 and $100 for 2,3,and 4 hits. the jackpots odds are 575,757:1.Would a game like this be more popular:The letters of the alphabet (which would be a field of 26) and four numbers, such as 1,2,3,4. (Would have to always be the same four numbers to keep it

mega millions and powerball jackpot poll
ryanmNo, not suggesting two draws a year at all, bit something like a wider base of sinners at the top instead of one huge jackpot. Who the heck really needs two or three hundred million? As far as MegaMillions, I played more when it was The Big Game.Last year when, when it was known would come in, there were stories in the media about possible $500,000,000 jackpots. Not long after the jackpot started climbing. Well, when it climbs mpre people play, as has been mentioned here. Funny thing, it hi

Strange Fights Between Members
Very good Todd ! WTG ! There is no right method or way or opinion (if there were, then its success alone would be unrefutable and everyone would be hitting daily jackpots) and the old saying Different strokes for different folks still remains true. And I personally really find it a waste of my time (which I consider to be worth something) to trudge through a thread that is devolving into a flame war. Frankly, I don't care about whether one member is all upset over another member for wha

Bad news about GA-KY-VA Lose for Life
If that's the case, I guess I'll have more money available to play Fantasy 5 in Georgia since I won't be playing WFL. Maybe I'll just play the Tennessee Lottery - the drive to the TN state line takes about the same amount of time as the drive to the GA state line. The TN Lotto 5 is a great game that's been having some nice size jackpots recently (e.g. Friday's estimated $610K - yep, I've got tickets!). And I'd rather play Power Ball than Mega Millions. If they're smart, the GLC will bring bac

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
I expect there will be many large jackpots in the future. Even when the lottery resets, there is roughly a 50-50 chance of it reaching about $90M and a 15% chance of reaching $200M.California is a large contributor to lottery sales, of course, although often New York has larger sales. The loss of California would mean slower jackpot growth.I lived in California for many years and I expect that the state will find a way to remain in Megamillions. The game is rather popular. Sales for the abbr

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The MM jackpot has been won and reset. It is reasonable to assume that the number of tickets sold for the new jackpot will be around $15M. (Note though that all of the biggest MM states, California, New York, Illinois, and Texas, all have jackpots in their home state lotterires bigger than MM. California has a $65M jackpot - this may cut MM sales.) If however MM reaches $15M in sales anyway, the probability of various numbers of winners is given in the following table:091.82%17.84%20.33%30.0

Another MM Winner @$15m
No, Ohio hit it this time. Illinois has yet to hit it since September 27, 2002. This is unreal - last year Powerball went on a lucky string of low jackpot winners, now it appears it's Mega Millions' turn to go on one. The last time Mega Millions had three consecutive jackpots under $100 million awarded was during the period of July 3 - August 20, 2004; it was won at $47 million on July 23; won at the opening $10 million level on July 27; won at the $52 million level on August 20. Powerball also

what state has the best pick 5?
I really like PICK 5 games. They are drawn often and the Jackpots are almost winable. As far as best Pick 5..... Take your pick... TN-Because JP usually go pretty high and have been known to hit $1 MillionFL-Because if there is no top prize winner that money is rolled down to the 4/5. (AND 2/5 PRIZE)VA-Because the odds are better. (Plus $.25,$.50,and$1 plays. As well as midday drawings)GA-Because of the higher 3/5 and 4/5 prizes and the 2/5 prize.
