Penn. Lottery's Raffle Drawing Creates Four New Millionaires
Yeah they may likely make this a year end event. Not to keen that its a computer draw pick for the numbers....overall I've yet to hear from any of my associates or neighbors that they even hit the minimal 1k winning. Will be interesting to see what populous (?) area seemed to gain the most winners....Hopefully PA Lottery wont be so greedy next year- perhaps they will add some 50$ /100$ draws to the mix....They realy should have an end of the year Losers' Win Pot! Take all losing tickets along w

Breakfast buddies file suit over lottery ticket
I beg to differ against the folks who presume the ticket WASNT purchase by the wife. She could just have easily bought a series of tickets that day or a few days earlier.I belong to a lottery pool and dern proud of it! Ya'll hear about one or two cases that place a bad image on the whole concept without ever once researching ALL the jackpots that are claimed by groups that dont squabble. Sorry I'm too much a beleiver that there are more good acts of kindness and decency then the ones blown out

Having a lottery machine: Now that's the ticket
I agree it is very important to learn the rules to protect your winnings. However your statement about not playing if you don't know the rules would probably eliminate 75% of the players. Then most jackpots would be much smaller. From what I can tell, most people haven't a clue when they buy a ticket at the local store. I hear people all the time ask What's the jackpot this week? or How much does it cost? The whole idea of a State Lottery is that anyone can buy a ticket for any game as long

lotto tennessee,georgia,south carolina!
Kentucky also plays Power Ball on the same night, so I doubt that the launching of Tennessee's lottery is entirely to blame for Lotto South's poor performance. Several people have indicated that they prefer Lotto South over Power Ball because of the lower odds. If a person favors lower-odds games, then why would they care if Tennessee has Power Ball on the same night? It seems to me that they would continue to play Lotto South, even if it means crossing the border to get tickets. But Lotto

How Many Members Are Psychic
The spirit and those in the spirit world have no problem helping us and giving us anything we want...including numbers...pently of people who hit big jackpots dreamed the numbers or had a feeling to play that day. The spirit world only wants to help us as the spirit is the reflection of who we are, was and have always been...so we know all and I think someone said in a thread that we only need to remember. And that the past, present and future is all the same so we should be able to go into th

Lottery: Promises and pitfalls
I agree. The other thing that happens is that money that was previously going to education is diverted to some other entitlement program, so the net result is that more money is wasted, and education becomes almost solely reliant upon lottery revenues. That, in turn, makes the lottery revenue critically important to the state budget, which ultimately makes the lottery go to extreme lengths to keep revenue increasing from year to year. Think about what happened in Texas, with the lottery director m

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
I agree that something is going on and your explanation sounds reasonable. I am no longer back calculating a sales projection from predicted jackpots, but making estimates based on previous sales. Actually at sales levels in the low tens of millions, the jackpot rollover/winner distribution probabilities do not vary all that much.MM is far more predictable and regular than PB these days. I have much greater confidence in making MM projections than I do with PB. Some of the unpredictability i

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The Megamillions jackpot has rolled over and the annuity value is now $64M. It is probably valid to assume, from recent history that this drawing will sell around $20.0M in tickets. If sales are similar for this jackpot, the following table gives the probability for various numbers of winners:088.74%110.61%20.63%30.03%There is a 53% chance that the jackpot will rise to $128M annuity. There is a 10% chance that the lottery will reproduce a jackpot near the $315 jackpot produced in the recent

Hot Lotto w/Lotto Silver
This sounds similiar to something I have been suggesting to the Michigan lottery (and the consulting firms that they hire) for years now. If you want to see some of the other ideas that I have suggested, read the Michigan Double Jackpot thread in this (jackpot games) forum. I figure you can complain or you can try to do something about bad games. So, I keep repeating my suggestions to anyone who is interested. I just wish Michigan would get a game with two Jackpots. I have been asking them

$113 million Powerball winner may be a regular player
Maybe the guy just made certain he always used at least two numbers from the last jackpots won: The powerball has strange streaks like that. I have seen the powerball go up to about 8 draws without repeating one number. But lately there has been back to back repeats, especially the numbers 42 and 45. I believe no numbers from previous draws are expected to come up at least 50% of the time, at least for a 6/49 game. So it should be slightly more either way for powerball. Sometimes I play multipl
