Brad:Most of us here do a lot of predicting and many of us do our predicting mostly for games we don't actually play. My guess is we all give it our best shot and that we're not particularly good at it. I usually don't post predictions for games I plan to play unless I'm just trying something new. I've seen Caldude post similar sentiments about the jackpot games.I think you'd be giving us too much credit to suggest anyone's deliberately predicting wrong numbers so's they won't have to share t

It's gonna be a Powerball Christmas again
It's almost 50:50 for this run to last until Christmas, when one bases it on the sales from the last (annuity based) record Powerball pot. However there is a less than 50% probability that the jackpot will be won before then. Here is the probability breakdown for what occurred on the last run, using the sales data from www.lottoreport.com. The first column is the annuity jackpot, the second column is the probability of that particular jackpot rolling, and the third is the probability of that jack

Couple Claims $4.6 Million Lottery Prize With Hour To Spare
Alot of people play for the heck of it. It's an urban legend that only poor, desperate people waste their money on Lottery tickets. Take our Senator Millionaire... made the world-wide news; or, Jack Whitaker from West Virginia, he too was already a millionaire contractor; half the people who win BIG Jackpots are comfortably middle class or better. In my town, a guy who owned a big restaurant hit for 3 million; the Whites in May 2004 hit the largest POWERBALL jackpot in PA history-netted $110 m

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The Megamillions has rolled over again, and the cash value has risen. Based on sales, the cash value reached about 15 million and is expected to rise to $19.5M, the annuity value from $25M to $33M. This means that the lottery expects to sell about $15M tickets. I am going to guesstimate that the actual sales figure will be the same as the last $35M annuity jackpot, 18M, which is consistent with the recent history of jackpots in the low $30M annuity range. If so, the probability of various n

LOTTERY’S First-ever millionaire raffle
Yeah actually if they would have made it larger, thus the odds lower to win, I may have not played. I was definitely enticed by the 1 in 125,000 odds. 1 in 500,000 whatever, either way I would be happy with a cool million. ($700,000 after all taxes?) I will stick to powerball for higher jackpots, and low odds. I would rather a few more games with lower prizes ($1 million minimum) and better odds to win it. This provides an alternative to always losing money to the powerball all the time. You get

$500 Million Jackpot!
Age is also a factor. I doubt anyone over 40 or 50 is going to want an annuity, and get their largest checks at age 70-80. They would not be able to enjoy the money at that age like they would have when they were much younger. Smaller annuities encourage thrifty spending, and always waiting for the next check. When you could actually get far more in interest with the cash option for larger jackpots than even the annuity pays you a year. I would definitely take cash for any large jackpot win.

what isyour strategy?
Just how many of the major jackpot winners have won the jackpot by using a system? NONE that I have read about so far. If the lottery could be predicted with ease, we would have a world full of millionaires, and a bankrupt lottery. I have the best luck using filters, but all it takes is one number to mess up the entire process. Funny how many so called lottery experts claim that they can teach you how to win the big jackpots, but for some reason cannot follow their own advice.Or better yet tho

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
I need to correct my last post. The computational long term rollover based on the generated equation is 7.5% approximately for reaching a jackpot comparable to the $315M jackpot of the last run. The computational probability of exceeding that jackpot is close to 5%.Based on the actual averages of previous jackpots, the probability of matching is 8%, and of exceeding it, 4.5%. (These are the values posted in my last post.)I am slightly more confident in the computational values than in the ave

Record Jackpot - $448 Million
I don't think we will see a jackpot of more than 400 million on either game. The reasons are; Powerball limits its jackpots after it reaches a certain level and put a 25million dollar cap on each rollover. As we saw with the last powerball jackpot run, the jackpot would have taken three more rollovers to hit 400 million. With the media attention and people buying hundreds of tickets it would be impossible for it to get past 400 million. Mega Millions has a better chance of hitting 400 mi
