The Math and The Lottery
If you are a number cruncher, the best thing you can do is to record what you crunched and how well you did. It has been my experience that eliminating numbers is more likely to be harmful than helpful. Some ideas sound better than they actually are and a record of how well they've done in the past should be a good indication of how well they will work in the future.

Powerball
DAMMIT!! It was hit in Iowa and it wasn't mine!! I matched only the first number (8), but that was it!!That's the fourteenth time this year the Powerball jackpot was awarded. That's a new record for Powerball, breaking its old record of twelve.

It's gonna be a Powerball Christmas again
It's got a long ways to go before it gets to a record. I would think it would be big (300+) after the new year. Euromillions is actually more likely to break a record as of now than Powerball.

LOTTERY’S First-ever millionaire raffle
Ok. After thinking about it, here is what PA should have done for their raffle. They should not have sold the tickets in numerical order. Instead they should have jumbled them all up, and just had the computer record when a number was sold. That wouldn't be too hard considering they already keep a record of what ticket numbers were sold already for every other game.

MM - End of a Great Streak
If you think about it, the only great that streak was for was the lottery folks, because they made more money at the expense of the people. This also means it wasn't very productive, as MM has produced only eight jackpot wins (nine winners actually), which will be a record low if nobody wins before 2006, compared to Powerball's record thirteen jackpot winners. After all, do you play to win, or to raise the jackpot? I hope Mega Millions gets a lucky string of winners like Powerball did ear

Jake649, what are the records for roll 4 record? Roll 5 record? These questions will be important when we're in the new matrix.

MM and PB Jackpots
If Powerball can survive that long without being hit, it will be a new record for most consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. Currently, both Powerball and Mega Millions have a record of 19 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. Mega Millions may survive that long too, but it's less likely, because its jackpot is growing too fast, so more players will be playing, increasing the chance it will be hit before then.

Mega Millions Sets A New Record
Powerball can easily set new records under 5 rolls. The jackpot was last won at $36 million. That level was reached after 3 rolls. The 4 roll record is only $42 million. If the jackpot was not won at $36 million, the next roll would have broken the record.
