Mega Millions lottery to introduce changes when California joins game
I don't see them making major changes in the game's structure. Increasing the overall odds will cause a disproportionate loss in the game's aggregate revenues as players migrate to their border states for PowerBall tickets.More likely, in my opinion, would be the introduction of the Megaplier feature in order to increase sales.

Mega Millions when CA joins
Quote: Originally posted by DoctorEw220 on February 9, 2005i know multi-state games like to change several things at a time, and the population of CA is really big, but i don't see a change until CA shows an effect on the game (they keep hitting the jackpot.).That's what I mean. I think it's unfair if they increase the odds when nothing has changed yet with the winning.Powerball has more states involved and the odds are 1 in 120,526,770.To the Mega Millions people: Don't make me open up a can of

Mega Millions when CA joins
Hmm, what do y'all think about the potential for increased odds? Does the joining of CA deem it necessary to increase the odds? I see the increased odds above, and I'm already thinking of BARELY playing Mega Millions! As it is at 135 million, I'm disgusted.

CALIFORNIA JOINS MEGA MILLIONS
Here are some odds:5 X 63 and 1 X 24 = 1 in 168,692,328 Thats just an increase of about 30 million (Could work because you could match the mega ball more often)5 x 53 and 1 x 51 = 1 in 146,3539355 X 55 and 1 X 55 = 191,331,855I would prefer them to raise the 5 number matrix and lower the Mega Ball matrix.Brad

Indiana legislator attacks computerized lottery drawings
In a move hailed by opponents of computerized lottery drawings, Indiana State Representative Robert Alderman (R) introduced a bill last month that would force the Hoosier Lottery to revert back to traditional lottery ball machines. The bill, which would take effect on July 1, 2005, requires the Indiana State Lottery Commission to use numbered balls and machines to conduct lottery drawings. If passed, the bill would also voids a conflicting administrative rule which allows the Hoosier Lottery to

$2 games
You maybe right about that. But I hope that the people who run the lottery games in each State would put themselves in the ordinary players shoes and think, would I play more at $1 or more at $2. I realize that many of the people who run State lotteries think that many gamblers have a disease and would bet at any cost, but I hope not all of them feel this way. I mean, it would spoil some of our fun if they did increase the prices.litebets27

$2 games
Cash Only,Other than benefiting the States and turning us mostly poor players away from playing $2 lottery games, why do you think there would be any consideration to increase the cost of an already existing $1 dollar ticket?litebets27

Powerball/Mega Milions Jackpots
I've always thought that the reason for the $10 million to $12 million to $18 million increase went like this:The first drawing on a new jackpot, PB and MM pay out $10 million if someone wins. But they've only got $6 million to contribute to the jackpot from sales. Oops, dip into the emergency fund for $4 million. That rarely happens.Next drawing, things are back to normal....the same $6 million from sales to the jackpot brings the level to $12 million....$18 million the third draw and so on

Powerball/Mega Milions Jackpots
This is a little off topic, but something I've always wondered about - do they have minimum increase amounts for Powerball and Mega Millions the first couple draws after they start at $10 million? For example, if there's no winner when it's at $10 million, will there be an automatic jump of say $2 million minimum to $12 million even if the amount sold doesn't warrant that type of jump. It seems like Mega Millions especially always goes from $10 million to $12 m to $18 m and then at different l
