Texas Lottery officials testify that public was deceived
My cousin who lives in TX says that folks literally hated when Texas Lotto went from 6/50 to 6/54 or whatever it topped out at before they made it a 5 + bonus. She said many people she knew who were regular players stopped playing when the matrix went above 6/50. Guess Texans can count, too!!Bet their original 6/50 lotto would work and bring back many who were alienated by pencil pushers ratcheting up jackpots.Texans are a stubborn bunch so it's going to take something very creative to get their

Powerball is on a winners streak again!
Yeah, it's happened before in Mega Millions and they certainly aren't on a winning streak. How the hell do players keep getting so lucky with the Powerball!? Why can't Mega Millions go on a winning streak as well!!? Even with odds of 175 million to one it could happen. Watch, I'll bet players keep winning jackpots under $100 million even after they go to 5/55 + 1/42. To think, Powerball once boasted that there was no lottery game more profitable for any state! Look at it now!

Are we seeing the results of CA?
The key to the matrix change wont be visible until after the $100 million barrier is crossed. The sales increases from the $12 Mill draw to say (sub) $100 Mill draw are basically due to the increase in customers thanks to our friends in California. Where the matrix change should really be obvious is when we pass the $100 Million draw to say possibly $300 or $400 Million. The new matrix should allow super hot post $100 million runs for one week, maybe two weeks or possibly three. This will be w

What is better?
I agree there need to be more games where there are jackpots in the 250k-1 million dollar range, where you have a hugely better chance of hitting opposed to games like mega millions which are impossible . A perfect game is Wisconsin super cash. Roughly million to one odds to hit for 250k. If only they would jack up the payout percentages a game like that would create nice daily revenue for a state. Until states though jack up %'s, state lottos and smaller take five games will never grow. Prett

What is better?
acronym007,Some members, especially Cash Only, are fervent in their belief that a jackpot winner should be allowed to change their payout option on a jackpot win at the time they claim their prize (rather than when they buy the ticket), and that the lottery should pay out in prizes at least 50% of the revenue that comes in. The New York Lottery does neither of those things. So they try to penalize the lottery by constantly harping on those two negative things, and not taking anything else in

Dipping your toe into the 'other' side
Ok I get it. Do you know if that is all the jackpots for the last month. I'm not sure that I would have the time to dig up all of them. In the interest of time, do you think that this little experiment might work as well if I took the jackpot winning numbers from the MM and PB for say the past 90 days? If so I will do it tommorrow and then post the results of the experiment. Then I guess the only thing to do would be to wait until Friday and see what the numbers actually are. Also do you think i

A lottery for those bored by mini millions
I'll confess I've wondered whether PB will hold onto the ones it already has. There's been a certain amount of complaining and discontent in NM about it. A lot of players were unhappy about the series of minimal jackpots, but there's also a lot of grumbling about the dearth New Mexicans winning. It helped a bunch a few years ago when some guys working at Sandia Labs won, silenced that complaint for a while. But now they're saying again, if you want to win Powerball you have to buy your ticke

Did the Fortune cookie strike again?
I play some birthdays but because I know about that whole low ball thing and having to share jackpots. I change them up a little. For example my daughter's birthday is March second and I have the number 32 in just about all of my pick 5 or 6 combinations. My son's birthday is March 7th and I play 37 as well. I also like that number because the word riches appears 37 times in the Bible. Betcha didn't know that. And I always try to add one oddball number in the 40's (LottoSouth and MM). My daug

Do you believe you'll win a jackpot?
I do heavy thinking about winning. I wouldn't personally play/invest my money if I didn't think I could win. Why couldn't it be me is my philosophy! This year, I have observed the large jackpots won by a $7 an hour clerk and an investment broker. I read the news in April and saw that 6 Cinn. Red Baseball Players pooled their money in the MM. Highly competitive they are, but I believe an ordinary Joe can be as competitive with his belief/hope in winning. For those who are not so convinced abo

Texas Lottery has history of jackpot overestimation
Konane:I've wondered a bit whether the various State lottery administration structures aren't the reason for some of this..... maybe the scratcher folks are in a separate department from the people administering the draw programs, so they ones administering the draws aren't seeing how many buyers are spending the price of a draw ticket on scratchers with a lot smaller returns because they have a better chance at smaller wins. Some of those folks administering these programs probably need to go st
