10 Worst Lotteries To Play
PA's is $2 and you win $36K/year. GA's, also sold in KY and VA, is $1 and you win $52K/year. VA offers a lump sum payment of $520K in lieu of the annuity. As if I need to say this, CASH's post should be taken with a grain of salt. I have yet to see any evidence that Lucky for Life is being replaced. Everytime I am at a PA store with a self-service machine, I try to see if it will allow me to buy a 26 drawing (13 week) ticket. When it no longer does, I will let you know.

Large Jackpot for XMAS
My modeling programs, for what they're worth, estimate that thereis a 15% of an MM jackpot over $200M annuity and an 11% chance of a Powerball jackpot of this size. Note that the Powerball jackpot would be worth much less money in cash terms. The MM jackpot has an even shot, roughly of getting to $100M but the PB has an even shot at only getting to $100M. It's all luck however. It is impossible to predict exactly. Anything could happen. Both jackpots could be huge by Christmas or

10 Worst Lotteries To Play
pumpi76....it would probably be wise to check Marylands Multi match (a varience of the PA Match 6) They both pay out 20$ for the 4of 6. ANd the kicker is....PA's jackpots are CASH AMOUNTS starting at 500k. Marylands Multi match uses the annuity as its jackpot amount so their jackpot cash payout starts at 200k and only rolls about 10k in essence. Marylands Multi doesnt even start to payout til you hit 5 numbers on three lines! Yet PA allows 4 numbers on three lines.. I will say that LFL in PA

a poll about annuities and lump sum
I voted yes, and for the following reason. Advertising the so-called annuity jackpot is, to be frank, pretty decieving. Right now, the Mega Millions jackpot is $12,000,000, or so they say. In actuality, that couldn't be further from the truth. The top prize is really either about $7,000,000 or $480,000 per year for the next 25 years. Note neither of those options is the $12,000,000 advertised. On top of that, they don't mention the fact that Uncle Sam will be taking a big chunk of whatever you

a poll about annuities and lump sum
I voted yes, only for this reason, if any lottery offered nothin but cash option I'm afraid that the prizes would be juggled with so they'd be mush less than any current annuity or cash system. I'm thinking of a lot of threads I've read here. Since I've been a member here Powerball has lowered the amount of the cash prize. I wouldn't even be surprised to see a ceiling on a cash option only lotto.

E! Television to air 'Curse of the Lottery' Sunday
Maybe instead of jail time he could be forced to continue working and pay a lifetime annuity. So it actually costs him A LOT of money for being so greedy. Some clerks actually get tips for their honesty. I never check big wins that I can't cash in by machines, I also make a few copies, front and back. The lottery needs make some changes with the machine however, so it shows how much you win to the ticket holder. They have the jackpot amounts in BIG BOLD letters, so they should find a way to

New game in SC this autumn
The only thing negative about HL is that it's computerized (actually, it uses radioactive material-I don't see how that can be manipulated.) I realize that some people are as against computerized drawings as I am against annuity-only games. HL, computerized or not, is a much better game than GA-KY-VA Lose for Life. South Carolina was interested in Lotto South-LS would still be here, as at least a four-state game, if SC had joined. If NC and SC were to join HL, they would do so, separately.

PB winner....MM and PB in a race
It's not a race really, unless you mean a race to advertise a misleading value for the jackpot. The MM cash value is higher. Powerball's graduated annuity makes it seem even bigger than it really is. It is still a slightly better bet to play Powerball, since Powerball gives you a little bit better odds of winning. It happens every once in a while that the jackpot is a little lower than advertised. In this case it must have involved their rules about reserves. They had enough sale

To SirMetro
Uhmmm...by using the word Force , are you implying that you are mandated to participate in the game to begin with? Last time I checked, the Lottery Games are optional. There is NOTHING out there to FORCE anyone to do anything. If a person does not like an annuity based game, they should not be stupid enough to play it. Otherwise, they are willingly inflicting misery upon themselves. And the prize being guaranteed , it is enforced because it is made to your estate for the duration as defined
