Estimated jackpot vs. Actual cash value
Estimates of lottery jackpots and cash values are usually conservative and based on realistic sales expectations. Many times when jackpots are large and there's a ticket buying frenzy, they are adjusted upward after someone wins.

It now appears certain that Megamillions will go 6 months...
For Mega Millions' jackpots to be comparable to Powerball's, and considering Mega's different annuity structure and ticket price, its jackpots should start at $16 million and increase by at least $4 million every draw there is no winner.

Lawmakers going after unclaimed lottery money
Politicians ran up the debt, why don't they take a cut in pay benefits to help pay for it.They should do their part BEFORE looking at the lottery to bail them out of the hole that THEY dug!Average Americans bought lottery tickets to make the jackpots climb and the unclaimed jackpots should be returned to us in some way before we let politicians get their grubby hands on it.

MUSL: We have identified the glitch!
The lottery playing community have two choices, play or don't and that's not much a fierce opposition. Wishing for starting jackpots that aren't supported by ticket sales is nonsense. If players want larger starting jackpots they are going to have to pay more for a ticket.

Mega Millions - No Winner, JP Stays At $12M
It's my understanding that all prizes other than the jackpots are paid by the states where they are won. MUSL is only responsible for the jackpots which all state contribute 30% of their local sales toward.

2012 YTD Multi State JP Performance
The PB ticket is twice as much so the jackpots should be two time higher. PB starts at $40 million so their jackpots should average over $100 million.

California joins the Sand Box
I dont know.... Im thinking at first for the first year maybe it will not roll past maybe 100 million.....because of all of the people playing in Ca......Cause I think and I hate to say this I believe they meaning lottery officals can push the rollover to increase tickets sales....They get more press and more players when the jackpots are higher.....so to induce that kind of coverage.....I'm thinking large jackpots are going to be more sporadic...

$425 MILLION: Largest Powerball lottery jackpot in history
You have to be rich to play a game like PB. I can't chase these PB jackpots rollovers; PB jackpots roll too fast. Oh, wait I still have $2 to play.

$250 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges
The New York lottery needs to spread those jackpots all over the state. I am tired of seeing Long Island winning most jackpots and second prizes.
