Repeat... Best state to live in after Winning
This wasn't the article I was thinking of but I wonder about some of these that Yahoo posts. A few days ago they had the 10 best places for retirees to live and one of the criteria was crime rates. One of the best places, D.C. I don't think so. In another one of these article North Dakota was rated as the best place for jobs, because of the oil industry.....but some of the commnet sposted were the jobs didn't pay so great.

Father, son trying to live like regular guys after $88 million lottery win
Thanks for the two ideas, petergrfn. How much in taxes (fed and state) would have been saved, now that you've peaked our interest with these two different lottery jackpot claiming methods? On an unrelated note, the article reads that Billy bought the ticket but gave it to his son, Jeff. Consequently, Jeff's name was on the lottery headquarter's promotional blimp check. However, the article somewhat insinuates a few times that Billy possesses big lottery monies from Jeff. So, what's going on?

Siblings fight over lottery jackpot
I changed my mind and now agree with KYFLOOD's summary. Yet, if only the four children could have agreed to sign the back of the lottery ticket AND shared EVEN percentage splits of the lottery ticket's jackpot share they could have kept the ticket OUT of their father's estate (unless, of course, he had already signed the back of the lottery ... whoops!). Or, this passing away might have been smoother if the father had NO will, because then probate court would have handled and distributed eve

$190M Idaho lottery winner sorts out her new life
That's awesome! I won't have to pay child support! he said upon learning his wife was rich. I agree with Sully, from the article this is what stood out to me, its not about money its about family. Any dad that says the above doesn't deserve to be a dad. The article did say he saw his kids most days so maybe there is hope for him yet. Jimmy

MADDOG'S Powerball Challenges (Discussion)
RJOh, You're correct regarding Todd's comments on the Powerball article, but if you look back at the attacks I had to deal with when citing Wikipedia to explain The Gambler's Fallacy, I think you'll find a different story. Although I don't fully agree with Todd's critique of the PB article, he cited a specific passage and what he didn't like about it. Those who have a strong psychological need to believe in the fallacy blindly mounted emotional attacks on Wikipedia itself without attempting t

N.Y. man pleads guilty to stealing to feed his lottery habit
Article made me think of an article a while back of a lady from a doctors office who stole $2.3 million (quite a coincidence). I find these stories pretty crazy that someone would steal that much money to play the lottery and also because of how they never won anything huge after spending so much money, really shows that you can't force a win (the lady won $25,000 once over the course of three years). https://www.lotterypost.com/news/140429

$18.5M lottery winner 'scraping by'
Well, he still has money, as the article didn't say that he dispensed of it all! I'm not sure why some LP members are assuming he's broke, unless they know something that the article didn't print. Regardless, perhaps this widowed, sinior 2-digit multi-million dollar jackpot winner, should stay a week at the best hotel in Burbank and spend that week deeply entrenched in Burbank downtown life socializing, observing resident's interactions, and sightseeing. After all, the Burbank town may be dif
