Lotteries in most states were started to take advantage of the monies that were going to private casino gambling. If anything, they have failed to stay competitive when they tried to increase their profit. Pick3 games which has not change their basic format have continued to attract a constant number of players over the years.RJOh

What ever Ohio decide to do, the payout will be less for every dollar taken in. When Ohio lottery first started, it had better odds, better payout and larger jackpots. Each improvement has meant worst odds, smaller prize amounts and smaller jackpots. There is no reason to think that this trend will change. Each year that the state dosn't show an increase in profit is reported as a lost.RJOh

Mega Millions getting boringReply
I think the more states that enter into the powerball or MM games will increase the jackpot size. Eventually there might be a national lottery with humongeous jackpots. Like a billion dollars. Imagine that. Wasn't that a twilight zone episode? It'd be a cool reality show to see how somebody's life would change.

Buckeye5 has a fixed amount for 5/5. The Ohio649P and MegaMillions games have jackpots that increase until there is a winner. Pick 3 and 4 work similar to other states.Will be using those $2 for Megamillions picks tonight.RJOh

I think you CAN make the Mega Millions even harder to win AND make it a more interesting game:add three balls on the top (5/55) but remove three numbers from the bottom (1/49)...longer jackpot odds but ALSO better overall oddskeep lower tier prizes as is (perhaps increase second prize to $200,000)lengthen the annuity to 30 payments (almost everyone takes the cash anyway)

Testing my NEW system
forum readers,I will be testing my system from Friday March 14 - Friday March, 21. I have been asked by a number of people to put my money where my predictions are, and I have decided they are right.I will be playing the Virginia Lottery, since it is closest (45 min ride). I know what is wrong...how can a jackpot game only increase $100,000 for the past two drawings. That is like they only are selling what $40,000 worth of tickets plus the money that is paid out. What is wrong?Brad
