Mega Millions vs Ohio 6/49
Once the 30yrs annuity becomes acceptable in a few of the big lotteries, it will become the standard for most of them, after all it's a way to increase the jackpot with the same amount of money and most pool players only play when the jackpot reach a certain level. Ohio $20M jackpot with odds of 1:13,983,816 sounds good regardless of the payout. RJOh

Powerball $100 million Sat 9/14
VisiondudeHow are you these days? I see that you are looking at me right now with the eye at the bottom of your post. LOL.Just a quick question out of curiosity. When you play, do you recommend waiting for the jackpot to reach a certain amount and buying a LOT of tickets during that drawing to increase one's chances of winning or is it better to just buy a couple tickets each drawing, regardless of the jackpot????

Which is better ??
While on the topic about probability and chance, which of you guys buy a moderate number of tickets, and which of you wait until the jackpot gets larger to buy a large number of tickets. Do you prefer to buy $10 worth of tickets each drawing OR do you prefer to wait and buy $100 worth of tickets in a drawing after two months? After all, buying more tickets increase your chances of winning.

OhioSuperLotoPlus picks for 08/31/02
RJOh: I was hoping you'd be spending less money on the Ohio 6/49 by now. Hopefully MM jackpots will increase even faster starting Wednesday since Washington state begins selling MM tickets then!

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
I think you'll find I said the same thing in different words in my last post. I was trying to correct the people who think buying a second ticket will increase their chances by cutting the odds in half .Going from 1:1,000,000 to 2:1,000,000 does not double your chances of 'picking the winner' on either ticket.Doubling your opportunity to have the winner is not the same as cutting the odds against you in half ie; one ticket = 1:1,000,000 two tickets=2:1,000,000so two tickets gives you 2 possibil

This is where it gets picky on wording. The odds are 1:1,000,000 no matter how many tickets you buy, but your chances increase the more tickets you buy.

Whoever you are? Thanks....
because the lottery is random. It won't increase your chances of winning, but it increases your chances of NOT sharing the jackpot. Most people choose patterns when picking their numbers. (i.e. 7,14,21,28,35) so if you do get a hit you will share with a lot of people. But this only works with games like mega millions, with pick 3 it doesn't matter.
