An example on double taxing...............................I win big in the mega millions. Next I go to a Tax attorney to set up a trust fund............(although I hate attorneys) but believe me, I would shop around.I already have paid my taxes on the lump sum the rest goes into trust......it is a generous trust. It leaves me much spending money per year. I don't need that much money; I am very comfortable now. I invest the money in some stocks or municipal bonds, something..................

Warning! Warning!! Warning!!
Just give me a reason why anyone would take an annuity? I think personally it is clear stupidity. I would not blow it in one place.......trust me. Those are the idiots. I am adult and I don't need anyone to supervise or allot me any money. I was just telling my husband over dinner last night that if we should ever happen to win big that we just keep it all in cash. If you invest it, you will probably make some money and end up having to pay the government another tax on your dividends. Maybe

Remember Powerball's New Rules?
Quote: Originally posted by Bradly_60 on December 21, 2002 Hey if the game rolls one more time it will be in record territory. I personally would like to see how this new $25 million cap would work and the extra prize money. Lets hope for lots of $100,000 winners but no jackpot winners. They sold over 50,000,000 tickets last wednesday so it might be hard. If they sell 70,000,000 tickets tonight there is still more than 50,000,000 possible combinations not included the more than one combo fro

Lottery player/winner advice ?
when i win i am going to take the lump sum. then i am going to let my son bury all the CASH in my new expansive back yard in a secret location. then i am going to instruct him to give me only $20,000 a month for the first year (of course i won't tell anyone how much i am alloting myself per-month). that way i have control over MY cash. i won't need to invest because who needs more money when you already have $20 million buried in your back yard? the idea will be to protect it so you don't l

Lottery Math
You need a plan. The best plan starts with a knowledge of how the game is played. How To Play PowerballPowerball is a lotto game which is a combined large jackpot game and a cash game. Every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, we draw five white balls out of a drum with 49 balls and one red ball out of a drum with 42 red balls. Players win by matching one of the 9 Ways to Win. The jackpot (won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red PowerBall) is either an a

There was some really good opinions out there and there was one that really had a profound impact on The Rock and That was the one from Mr.Happy. Mr.Happy you brought up some good points with an annuity and a dozen lawsuit at your door the lawyers will have easy access to your anuity checks and once you get it there will not any anything left of it but with cash/ lump sum you can plan for that

CashOnly
The Rock says cashonly are you still out there somewhere? Ya know cash The Rock agrees that cash/lump sum is probably the best way to go for alot of reason and one of the makor reason for The Rock is that he does not want to be bother with government employees every year about his annuity checks. The Rock deals with people all the time and people can be mean and ruthless and give a darn about anything and will mess you up and take things out on you because they are stuck in a low skill, non degr

2 years ago ..............
Yes, on May 5, 2000, the jackpot rolled from 230 million to 363 million for the May 9 draw. The cash value of the jackpot is directly related to the amount of sales and the number of lower tier prizes won. The advertised jackpot (that is, the jackpot payed out over 26 years) is direectly related to the cash value and the current interest rates. Two years ago, interest rates were higher and therefore the advertised (annuity) jackpots were larger in relation to the cash value than they are today. Two

Did Mega Millions take Powerball's crown?
Actually, Mega Millions and Powerball are at equal values for the same rollover draw cycle.
The only reason Mega Millions appears to be ahead is, because it is one draw ahead of Powerball.
We can see in the table below, when both lotteries are synced together at the start of their rollover cycles, Powerball does get off to a good start, but slows in growth and eventually becomes nearly equal to Mega Millions jackpot growth.
The Relative Cash value takes out the initial boost dew to the
