Player wins UK Lottery jackpot buying ticket online
I think Powerball/Megamillions should offer this type of online service to buy tickets direct. People out of state will drive (literally for hours) anyway to buy a ticket for a lottery not available in their own state if the jackpot is an obscene amount. Why should anyone want or have to pay $2 or more per $1 ticket for some fly-by-night online operation to do it for you simply because a given lottery isn't on offer in a person's state/country? Those extra dollars (profits to the purchasers) are

Lottery player wins case against deceptive store owner
Anyone who spends $125,000 a year on lottery tickets has a serious gambling problem. How can anyone spend that much and be that obsessed but not know the rules of the game he is playing? If the $100,000 had been advertised or had rules that used words like guaranteed I could see it, but that doesn't seem to have been the case. If store owners are to be gambling counselors and rule explainers as well, I hope they are getting a bigger slice of the pie. If the state doesn't pay off the court ve

Does anybody win more than they spend ?
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on March 23, 2004Unless you win the jackpots, you'll never win more than you spend.RJOhI disagree. In the last year I have had wins of $625, $1150, $1125, and $1100. All were second tier prizes. These only include the wins that I had to redeem at lottery HQ. This doesn't include the wins of less than $600 that don't have to be redeemed at lottery HQ. I have spent a little over $2000 getting those wins so I am making a profit. I would have made another $500 when I

$239 Million Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot Remains Unclaimed
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on March 16, 2004Todd:You have VA winners having 60 days from the DRAWING in which to choose cash.CASH, that is incorrect. According to the rules of the Virginia Lottery, winners of jackpots in Virginia Lottery drawings have 60 days from the date in which they claim the prize in order to choose whether they wish to take the prize as a cash option or the annuity. If the decision is not made at the time of claiming, the lottery will hold the winnings in trust

Probability of a rollover in PB and MM
prob987, thanks for your intelligent posts. Do you use the following formula for your sales estimate?(New ESTIMATED cash jackpot - Previous ACTUAL cash jackpot) / (Average percentage of sales allocated to jackpot)?= $(50.2 - 43.5) million / 0.32669= 20,508,739Note that MUSL usually overestimates the jackpot/sales slightly. The site you bookmarked updates the ACTUAL cash and annuity jackpots by the next day.For example, last night's cash jackpot turned out to be $43.5 million instead of MUSL's in
