Adam I am not sure how old you are but I assume you are fairly young since your brother is 32. With that being said if you kept all that money to yourself how much do you think you would have when you retire? Do you have or plan on having kids? I would ask these questions plus others before deciding on giving anything. You already gave $250,000. One of the reasons you can't tell ANYONE that doesn't live with you ... not enough to go around unless you hit Powerball or Mega ... money goes quickly ... house 2 cars retirement/savings for medical issues that might pop up ... I believe it depends on the amount if someone or a couple wins $5 million from the lottery (maybe $3.5 after taxes) that money is probably enough to pay bills, put food on the table and retire. Don't know about anyone else, but I would immediately put a hefty amount of money that's untouchable into a secure account which would only be known by me. That account would be enough to retire comfortably even If I blew every cent of the play money. It drives me crazy when I read stories like this because these scenarios are so unnecessary. I am from Philly. MM drawing was 12 22 46 56 74 on may 10th. Not including the mega ball. One line I had 13 33 45 57 71. SO that was close. Now if I did get it I would help my mom pay something off and then I would go to the dentist. Can't retire even at 42 but I have two websites that one is a money maker.

Well, with the financial situation around the world, if someone is able to relieve themselves of debt, it's the smartest thing they can do. I've got about 4 years to retirement, and the best way to retire is with no debt. Easier to live cheap with no obligations.
