Office Pool concept
I'm looking to create an office pool, and there's a lot of avid lottery players. But I'm torn on how we should create this pool. Is it better to have a higher buy-in amount but provide a better payout odds if one of the tickets win? Or, is it better to have a low buy-in amount, but the prizes will be split by 10,000 participants? (not sure if I would go that extreme, but definitely a possibility.) I would allow people to buy-in multiple times, but maybe there are some people who would only

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I therefore don't think it's worth it to compare a three game draw and a two game draw, I don't feel that's it's really comparing apples to apples. IMHO the sensible comparison is by the week. When PB added the 3rd draw the sales for Wednesday and Saturday drawings went down a little bit, but by adding Monday sales they got a modest increase in weekly sales. The roll records are directly related to sales. And sales are generally down compared to anything farther back than the past

Lottery couriers plead with Texas Lottery Commission in last-ditch effort
They need to isolate the problem of buying jackpots from the smaller games that don't have jackpots. People can only profit from buying all possible combinations in jackpot games that increase their prize amounts until someone wins. It makes no sense to apply this law to smaller games like Pick 3 4 because the prize amounts never increase, so there is no point in buying all possible combinations. Having a lot machines in a store is great. Players do not like standing waiting to us

Lottery ticket sold in Illinois wins $560 million Mega Millions jackpot
or the lump-sum estimated cash value of $264 million Based on reported sales that seems unlikely to be an accurate estimate. The first worksheet on the TX lottery website reported sales of $43 million and a cash value increase of $17.6 million to $258.4 million. The next worksheet forecast sales about 7% higher, which would fund an increase of $18.8 million, to $259.6. The website that can't be named reports sales of $46.44 million which would make it $259.8 million. This was yet another ja

Asked ChatGPT How To Win the Lottery
When asked how to win the lottery, ChatGPT said, Buy more tickets: The more tickets you buy, the greater your chances of winning. and Join a lottery pool: Joining a group of people who buy tickets together can increase your chances of winning. And then CMoore was told they were 100% wrong after saying Joining a group and buying more tickets doesn't necessarily mean your chances are better. From there it went to assuming the tickets are all different , but if one ticket is bought, to im

$1.1 BILLION: Massive Mega Millions drawing set for Tuesday
it appears that ever since PB added Monday drawings the MM doesn't climb as fast as without that drawing? PB tends to grow a bit faster from week to week, but when you compare drawing to drawing I think MM get a slight edge. What are the chances of rolling over now? Slightly better than 2 in 3, assuming sales aren't any better than the forecast that gave us the $1.1 billion advertised jackpot. I would and not be surprised if it reached just shy of $1.75 Billion for Friday

$1.5 BILLION: Powerball jackpot nears all-time record
What % of ticket combinations were sold? Based on 183 million tickets a random distribution would use 46.54% of the possible combinations. The number of 5+0 and 4+1 winners is fairly unlikely (though even the most likely result of 200 4+1 winners is only 2.82%) and almost certainly a result of 3 of the 5 numbers being birthday numbers. We all know that a lot of people play calendar numbers , patterns, and other non-random selections, so the actual number of combinations would have been lowe

$1.2 BILLION: Powerball jackpot grows to 4th-largest in history
I believe this will be a record-breaking Jackpot! I think it's got a very good chance of setting a record if it hasn't already. We've had 38 rollovers so far, which is at least close to a record for PB (and maybe MM). That we didn't see an increase in the advertised jackpot today makes me think it's not going to get much past 1.2 billion, and that makes me think that even with another rollover it might not set a new annuity record by Saturday. Of course that would only be a pretend reco

Craps Pass Line With Odds Bet - Casino Advantage
there are no systems that will increase player odds If you have $10 on the pass line and the point is 5, the odds remain the same until the settlement is made; you'll either win or lose $10. Players can increase their payoff odds by taking free odds because the house has no advantage on that extra bet. Lots of Craps systems are based oh hot or cold tables which in reality is making conditional bets on either. If you guess right, you'll make a profit, if you guess wrong back to the ATM.
