$257 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot expands
Doesn't sound like you have a lot of experience with scratch games. Most scratch games have odds of 1-in-3 to 1-in-4 and even the $1 games (which I never play) have odds of 1-in-5. But these basic stats are not the whole story. Scratch games are different from all other lotto/draw games. They do not follow the same rules of probability and randomness that you would expect. Scratch game prizes are not random, they are a predetermined pseudo-random schedule. Do you know what minimum pack val

Finding the Front Pairs
Thank you Jack you are the very best with pairs, Our goal is $50-100 a day. We will start with .50 bets(=$25). Once we win we will use that to increase wager. The bets will then be $1.00 (=$50). Once we win then we will increase bets to $2.00 $2.00 bet will give us $100.00 We will work it so that we will only need 4 sets of pairs(that may take a few weeks) 4 pairs x 2 = $8.00 $92.00 dollars when we win. $189 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot rolls again
The near destruction of the Megamillions game because of the $2 Powerball ticket - and the resulting jackpot fatigue - has certainly reduced the overall sales increase figures for the state lotteries, and, I think, may end up with them spinning their wheels. There is no reason that the new matrix should be any better. There isn't a real increase in the $12 million starting jackpot, since it's merely being masked by changing the annuity scheme from 26 years to 30 years. What we might see is it

Mega Millions Lottery
The odds of winning the jackpot are reduced to 1 in 258.9 million; however, odds of winning any prize will increase to 1 in 14. Somebody should edit the Wikipedia article because the jackpot odds are increased and the bonus number odds are decreased. It looks like MUSL was trying to find a way to create a $1 million secondary prize without raising the price of a ticket and give their players who never win anything a chance of winning something. The decision of paying $1 for matching the

Yes, wheeling was a very appealing idea when I first came across it. There is a section here for platuium and gold members that has a wheel systerm for the pick 3 and 4 as well as the pick five plus mega. I read someone else's opinion about using a wheel for the lotteries that use the 'mega' ball such as SuperLotto, MegaMillions and Powerball and his opinion was that 'wheeling' your numbers didn't increase your odds of winning the jackpot anymore than buying 'quickpicks.' I went to work testing

Mega Millions multi-state lottery to get harder to win in Oct.
Many people were extremely vocal when Powerball went to $2 per ticket, but it is undeniable at this point what a stroke of genius it was and how gutsy the Powerball organizers were in putting it through. The brilliance is not just that there would be more money coming in for jackpots (at $2 per ticket), but that by raising the ticket price without making the game any easier to win it almost guaranteed huge jackpots and thereby bring in even more sales! Think about it: in order for the game

Powerball Rollover This Saturday? ( Voting )
Any chance you might be referring to a post I made about how probability results in duplicate combinations? I'm not going to dig up the one Todd commented on, but here's the short and simple version. After they've sold 1% of the combinations you should expect that 1 out of every 100 tickets with random combinations will be duplicates from the first 1%. When 2% of combinations have been sold 2 out of every 100 tickets with random combinations should be duplicates from the first 2%. And so on.

$550 MILLION: Powerball jackpot now more than a half-billion dollars
Well, the Jackpot as they show it is a (conservative) estimate of wha they expect it to be by the time sales close down. It increases as sales increase because they have to be conservative, as they are advertizing a jackpot bigger than the funds they've already gotten from ticket sales. So they try to estimate how much they think it will sell, and make the advertized jackpot less because nobodies going to complain if they win MORE than the advertized amount, they would if they got less.

Mechanic and his wife are Missouri winners of $588M Powerball jackpot
I'm guessing it is less then billion. 587 mil - 325 mil = 252 mil. (increase for jackpot), but this is annuity based, so not real number 719 mil - 587 mil = 132 mil (in second and below prizes) 252 mil + 132 mil = 384 mil in payout. Even though the jackpot increase is annuity based, and you would think 384 mil is 50%, still not enough for the billion. But over the course of 16 drawings before it got that big it def-ly took in more than a billion of our earned money.
