What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
RJOh
In MO they cancel the ticket just by scanning the barcode and then press a key. The ticket is then just
worthless paper. When/if someone tried to cash it in then they would be arrested for fraud most likely.
I would say that jimmy purchased this ticket himself thinking that he is proving some sort of point. I
wonder how many he purchased to find this one.

What Does It Take To Win (Mathematically Speaking?)
RJOh,
You said, What discussion?
Good question.
Since my opening post, all that's been posted here are inane remarks, and that includes yours. The attacks on the 1975 study as out of date don't even confirm that the article was read, since it was merely a reference that was mentioned in the paragraph I included as an excerpt. If you aren't careful, it won't be long before the slowest people here figure out what your real purpose is in these Forums.

New - Curious... and there has got to be a better way...
Thank you RJOh! This is the first time I have tried any strategy of picking my own before. The most I ever won in the past was 100.00 off of a pick5 or HIT 5 as it is called and that was computer generated (quick pick)...however how I used to play is buy $1 for the next 10 draws...this way I didn't have to go back all the time. For some reason...I did a little bit better (not by much) having one set of numbers for the next 10 draws...
After the 150.00 mega outgo for the family...I felt foolis

RJOh, Batiatus, HaveABall,
Thanks for your interest in this question. It turns out, the answer is at the Link I've been tacking onto my (Summaries) postings every week!

Scroll down to the section entitled Winning Expectation. It's all spelled out there. The table even details examples of various cash and annuity amounts. I was correct that about 1/3 of ticket sales is what the cash option should be, and wrong in assuming it is not, because IT IS! I
