Tax office workers win Powerball lottery jackpot
There's always a chance of winning a lawsuit, no matter how frivolous it might seem, especially to those who get their information from a brief news report. Some of the people speculating about the possibility of lawsuit in this case must have read a different article than the one I read, because the one I read doesn't offer any useful information on whether such a case would be frivolous or not. Based on this article, there was no statement by anyone suggesting (much less a spokeperson acknowle

Police seize winning lottery ticket bought with drug money
I guess it's obvious that they don't have a program there where you can report criminal activities anonomously. An article like this tells me that if I lived there I wouldn't report anyone in the fear of repercussions. Another thing the article said he APPARENTLY used drug money to buy the tickets. Definition of apparently: according to what seems to be the case but may not actually be so. I'm sure when all is said and done the drug money will have been what was used to buy the ticke

Judge rules thief keeps lottery jackpot
This article says Timothy Elliott robbed two banks and the other article said he was caught attempting two unarmed bank robberies. I agree with you that armed robbery is a very serious crime and many states have mandatory prison time, but that's not what he did. The title is sort of misleading because Elliott didn t actually steal anything. Both articles mention his mental health state so he probably walked in the banks unarmed, demanded the money, and when the tellers stopped laughing, they

The Implications of Cracking the Code..
Well the same thing they said about Brian Green...I remember reading an article like 9 years ago with the same titled about Brian Green and around those lines (Some dude) might be the next Einstein ....I also read an article that said Some dude might be the Smartest Person Ever (notice the difference) again talking about Brian Green...LOL.. And that's just talk, i don't think no one with a skate board will ever solve the Unified Grand Theory not now not ever...And just because you solve

Retailers sue N.M. Lottery over scratch-off games
Cry me a river. The state has a right to suspend or change games as they see fit, as long as nobody is cheated. The people who buy tickets while the game is available have odds that are determined by how many tickets were printed and how many prizes there are, and their results aren't affected by anything that happens later. The people who don't buy tickets before a game ends can't lose anything. Unless the state is making a habit of selectively pulling only the games that have sold fewer prizes

Iraq soldier wins part of $12 million Lotto jackpot
Congrads. This kind of reminds me of a few years back a soldier was stationed in Korea and came back here to the states on leave, bought a lottery ticket, and won the jackpot. It was the Mega Millions and the ticket was sold in GA. Here's the story.... http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=104 article=17253 archive=true After serving in the Army it's good to see stories like this.

Lottery dream shattered for N.C. couple
The article doesn't say anything about looking at the ticket with a microsope, though that would be a pretty obvious, and perhas the first, forensic technique in the event that there is any question about the authenticity of the ticket. My guess would be that when the guy said there was a microscopic piece he simply meant it was a very small piece. As far as the statement about not relying on eyesight, the validation process is to make sure that what looks like a winning ticket really is a win

Crossing US/Canada Border with Tickets
Yup, the smart money says an Interstate will go from Canada to Mexico, Mexican trucks will drive in the U.s., not having to adhere to U.s. safety standards, and the common currency, the Amero (the North American Euro) is indeed in the works, too. Here's one article: http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53378

Grandma's lottery ticket detour pays off
Wow! She spends $100 a week on tickets? Happy for her that she won. Now - go visit your grandson!! By the way, the article says: where they bought four $5 Win For Life so why do they then say she won... Did she play a different game? The article starts out by saying he decided to take a detour and she went along with him.
