What Powerball is suggesting..
If MSUL is contemplating an attack on the intelligence oftheir player-base,I pitty them. Most lotteries will raise thenumbers or even create a new lottery game in order to reducethe pressure on another lottery. Is is poor business sense todo something dumb like that but then again, scrupples are inthe rear-end of life these days.If I had my way,New York State Lotto Commission would havebeen sued for removing the free bet portion on their lotto6/49 card and then a follow-up suite on the increase fro

What Powerball is suggesting..
Hello All,In another thread I mention a survey on the Powerball web site. By the looks of it, it would seem that Powerball might change to a 2 dollar a bet game. Based on the survey questions, the game would keep the same number of balls and hence the same odds. The amount per bet would change from 1 to 2 dollars. This would cause the base jackpot to be 20 million and all prizes to increase in one way or another. So what do you think? Is Powerball going the right route by charging more but keepin

Hot Lotto information?
Patrick,Thanks.. I guess I've gotten a bit spoiled by the great job Todd does with his breakdown of the BG's prize. I checked out Minn's site and while it does have alot of good information, I haven't found that quick little table such as the one on MA's site that shows the upcoming jackpots. I'll keep looking.A page that is on Minn's site that is useful is a page that has links to alot of state's lottery sites, and come to think of it.. I might be able to find what I'm looking for on the powerb

minor criticism: Mega Millions
I have no major complaints about Mega Millions (although maybe the jackpot prize level should be a little smaller, since 400+ million jackpots are inevitable anyway; perhaps second prize should be 200k). Since I live in NY state, I welcome BG-MM. The NY Lotto pays a ridiculously low 40%. Matching 3 of 6 numbers in NY Lotto pays only $1. Overall odds of winning in NY Lotto is 1 in 46. So, having a 1-in-43 chance of winning a minimum $2 will encourage NY-area players to try BG-MM. I think Ohio pla

minor criticism: Mega Millions
I know that the BG 2nd prize is 50K more than the PB 2nd prize ... and I now know that the BGMM 2nd prize will be 25 K more than the old BG 2nd prize but, I think the Lottery folks should have gone the x-tra step and made the BGMM 2nd prize an even 200K (maybe even 250 K).I mean the 2nd prize hardly cuts into the Jackpot anyhow. Last night for 155 MIL there were 35 2nd prize winners taking home 150 K each; that 5.25 MIL in total. The new BGMM is gonna over shadow PB in the Jackpots ... and I thin

OFFICIAL: New BG odds 1:135 million!!
Pat ... I've been reading (ALL) your posts. Are you sure the 52/52 matrix is official ... I've been told that too but nothing was supposed to be made public until the 10th.In reading the news section of this website ... the Michigan Lottery official stated that jackpots of 500 Mil are mathematically possible ... I say, he's a little off. Try 3/4 BIL or higher even. I mean to say, the sky is the limit ... you've got 2 major states joining the club plus those states that border them .... you've go

Big ame Lottery changes
The BG will become a new game in mid-May. Ohio and New York will become the eighth and ninth states to participate. The jackpots will start at $10 million (like Powerball) instead of $5 million. What has not been made public are the new number fields, and the prize amounts for the lower tiers. There WILL be at least two numbers added; whether the top half, the bottom, or both are affected have been kept secret. There is a strong rumor that the top half will become 52 numbers, with 52 on the bott

About the "NEW" Big Game...
I think the new game with the big jackpots will be great. The vast majority of lottery games out there ALREADY offer lots of lower-tier prizes that many more people win. I don't think we need another 6/49-type jackpot game.My prediction is that the new game will generate a lot of excitement, with lots of new players. The undeniable fact is that when the jackpot is high, many, many more people play. To me, that means that there is a very large market for a big jackpot game, whereas the lower-priz

Protest Changing the Big Game!
Greg,I also was alarmed when I saw that. The odds are already 70 million to 1. What they are trying to do is create mega jackpots. Why? So one person eventually may win 500+ million dollars...so what? That's one person who becomes overly rich and the rest of the players are losers. They will soon learn the folly of their ways when people just stop playing the game. The higher the odds are in the game, the less the payoff-to-odds ratio. Non-parimutuel Pick 3 is the best game available to the play
