Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $133M sold in Calif.
OK,
Going with 8.8 Mega Millions jackpot wins for California....
Not bad, considering we only had the game since June 2005....
(But if you went back to 2005, it would make it at least 9 wins....I think it was November 2005 that the workers in Garden Grove, CA won the $315M Mega Millions Jackpot...)
I do wonder though,
In 2004, CA had to decide whether to go with MM or PB.....
What if we had choosen Powerball, would Mega Millions have survived?
I know that there are 41 (?) st

Man retrieves $250K lottery ticket from trash
A Maryland man threw away a $250,000 Mega Millions ticket before realizing his mistake and finding it after a 90-minute search.
The 49-year-old man, whose name wasn't released by Maryland Lottery officials, bought several tickets for the March 9 drawing. After checking them and thinking none was a winner, he threw them out.
A Maryland Lottery employee told the winner's brother that a $250,000 winning ticket had been sold at the store Barnabas Liquors in Temple Hills.

This description may not be strictly correct in all the technicalities, but it can give a general idea of how this works.
The cash value is the amount of money in the prize pool. For simplicity, let's assume one person wins the jackpot. If he selects the cash value option, he receives the cash value amount, which is money already held by the lottery commission.
If the winner selects the annuitized payment option, he receives the first annual payment, and the rest (of the cash value) is dep
