MM $5, PB $2, Powerplay $1I
I find your perspective interesting because it is completely opposite to mine.
I like the pool I joined because they do not play power play for the Powerball game. Since the pool is going to divide the winnings among all the members of the pool, I want the pool to only spend money on the largest prize possible.
It is different for Mega Millions. We do not have a choice. The multiplier is built in.
Why do you want the power play included in the pool?

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Our pool did not win on our 10 times ticket.
We have more tickets for the Friday draw and one tickets has a 5 times multiplier.
Good luck to everyone playing.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I bought a bunch of Powerball tickets for the last drawing when the annuity jackpot was $2 billion. I normally don't play that game because the odds of winning are approximately zero. For the same price, I can get far better odds of winning less money but still life changing money. I was willing to try it because it would be fun to spend $600 million in today's money after tax.
For Megamillions, the equivalent annuity jackpot would have to be $5 billion for me to play (even then, maybe not,

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
We have our pool tickets for tomorrow's draw.
One ticket has a 4 times multiplier. I hope that is the lucky ticket.
Good luck to everyone that is playing.

I am thankful we have no state income tax. But we do have sales tax that does allow each county to charge a certain max figure. So with the state tax and the county tax, the total due is 9.75%.... Groceries are at 6.25%
* BTW Montana does the same as Idaho. Mandatory $3 for the PB with the forced purchase of the multiplier. Just talked with a friend who's out vacationing in the big sky country yesterday. I suggested he buy some PB tickets. He did grab a few and said each one is the minimal $3

Mega Millions constant $10 million increases
That's a lot for such a small win.
Wrong,...you seem to be forgittin the $5. price of the ticket..and being that most timez, the multiplier izz 2... You'd barely break even, and that'z only IF you'd git 2 of the 5 winning mainball numbaz correct...
Whyyyy YOU'D have ta be a Stat$talker to do DAT

Mega Millions constant $10 million increases
I did the math. A $2 prize (times whatever multiplier, so $4 to $20) for matching two white balls would add 18% to the value of all non-jackpot prizes in total. That's a lot for such a small win.
The purpose of a lottery with huge prizes is to award large amounts to a few people. Spreading wins out to a large number of bets is more like a penny slot machine.
If it were up to me, I would delete the small prizes of =$10 and funnel that money into the higher prizes up to 2nd prize.

After the price increase I chose one line of my regular numbers to keep playing, and I get a ticket for 10 draws (5 weeks) which is as many draws as my state allows. I won something on my first ticket but I don't remember what. I just cashed my 2nd ticket and got $36. Not too bad for a $50 ticket. My new ticket is 4X and I'd be perfectly happy with the million dollar prize with that multiplier.
I won $200 on Lucky for Life last night and I'm trying to decide how to allocate it. I've decided

I am actually saving money every week, to be exact $1.
I used to play MM every draw with the multiplier, that was $6 a week.
Now am only playing $5 a week.
I feel better already
