Virginia lottery winner claims first Set for Life check
Last week, Gordon McKinney suddenly fell back in a chair at the Scott County Tobacco Co.Those at the store thought he was having a heart attack. But Gordon, of Chuckey, Tenn., realized that he won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery s new scratch-off game, Set for Life. He will receive $2,000 a week, or $104,000 a year before taxes, for the rest of his life. It really hasn t sunk in yet, said Gordon, who was holding his first $2,000 check.Phil Hankey, the Virginia Lottery southwest regional ma

Scratch-Off Games
Actually bingo, keno, crossword, and a few others are all pretty similar in play. Match a group of numbers, letters, or symbols, to another groop. I really like those becasue they take a while to play, and for the extra cost ($2 to $5 ) per ticket, I want to get my money's worth of playing time. There are also similar games (like Battleship and Fortune hunter) where like the bingo caller numbers, rub the squares, and get co-ordinates. (like spread sheet cells) . Match to the play area grid

California couple face felony charges for stealing $135 worth of Iowa Lottery tickets
In this area, greater Louisville, all of the machines that I've encountered are touchscreen. There are still the old style IGT machines here and there, especially from what I've seen outlying areas. Not sure if they're being replaced.
One ticket seems to have misprinted for me on a draw game and could not be scanned anywhere. Looked it up and of course not a winner! Often wonder why QRS codes aren't used on lotto tickets, especially scratch ones.

Losing faith in lottery, dismayed at what I'm seeing in America
I've lost faith a long time ago but i still play from time to time. I currently live in Charlotte North Carolina now and have discovered that everybody in the city playing scratch offs is at a major disadvantage. The North Carolina websites shows the winners and allows you to search for lottery retailers based on zip code. Recent winners include a 100k winner in the city of Spindale Nc which has 6 retailers in the entire city. A 200k winner in Troy Nc city with 7 retailers, 750K winner in the ci

Faulty $50 Wisonsin lottery ticket causing a flap
But this ticket has no right-hand corner to check and why they can't pay her. There were two other possibilities, she didn't scratch it and asked for a refund or it was a losing ticket.
And if they pay her, will they pay everybody who finds smaller value winning tickets in the trash and cut off the bar codes that were already scanned?

Faulty $50 Wisonsin lottery ticket causing a flap
I saw almost the same thing happen on Monday when a vending machine cut off the bottom of a ticket, but that person didn't scratch the ticket. The clerk refunded the money, opened the machine and corrected the problem. Not everyone notices the bar codes on the bottom of the ticket, but payoffs are based on them.
Without a bar code the lottery can't pay though they should know if the $50 was paid.

KY players
Also if they are scratch offs they have codes the stores activate that show the tickets are being sold at their location.
Kentucky had trouble with thieves ripping off tickets at one store and traveling down the road to cash in winners before a stores could alert everyone of the stolen tickets so stores stopped cashing tickets they didn't sell.

Curious about Quick Picks
I'm not sure if I'm helping or derailing the thread but in MA they have codes for scratch offs that win prizes of $500 and under. Below is an image I found online with the codes I'm talking about. The ohn stands for one hundred. I think the codes help the store clerks determine winners especially in complicated games such as Crossword and Bingo.
As far as quick picks codes in online games are concerned, this is new to me. Never heard about it

Post your scratch ticket results
I bought a $5 Great Big Bingo (#25) at lunch and lost. I might get a $3 Prize Line Bingo on the way home since I lost yesterday on it.
Lately I have been going by the scratch off vending machines and getting the losing tickets out of the trash. I can key in the codes online for lots of free points for prizes and occasionally I find winners. They have been small so far but I got a $1 ticket that won $1 yesterday out of the garbage lol.
