I have no intention of giving money to anyone if I win. If someone asks me for money for ANY reason, even if it's a legitimate charity, they've blown their chance of getting anything. I will decide where the money goes.
I don't want to deal with a bunch of phonies who wouldn't have given me the time of day when I didn't have the money, became my best friends when I did, and if I lost all the money, would be gone again. I prefer real friends if there is such a thing.

Man accused of stealing $10,000 lottery ticket from co-workers
This is one reason why I ALWAYS buy lottery tickets alone. Another reason is so that I can remain ANONYMOUS....

Re: Powerball & Mega Millions
Sorry if this has been discused already (couldn't find it if so), but regarding reamining anonymous - what if someone from a state that allows you to remain anonymous goes to another state to play PB or MM and hits a jackpot?
What rules would that come under, the state where the ticket was purchased, or the person's home state?

Divvy it up
I don't think I have to worry about any lawsuits, but my family is best kept in the dark too. I wouldn't divvy it up except to make anonymous donations to charities.
I'd do everything in my power to stay anonymous when I claimed the jackpot. I'd even change my name (in another state where no one knows me, of course) before I claimed it, then change it again right after (in a different state where no one knows me or has heard of PowerBall), if the lottery would agree to publicize only the cur

Something New To Discuss at LP
I have not heard a valid (to me) reason YET why winners can not be anonymous. Do the powers that be think someone from planet XYZ' played and won ??? I think a winner needs to be COMPENSATED for all the free publicity the games get. If they are allowed to remain anonymous, then the Lottery owes no compensation. It just like the automobile dealers that advertise their business on the back of your car----Freeeeeeeeeeee!!!! You KNOW you bought your car there and so does everyone else, but the

Record powerball lottery winner reflects on sad life
If this story does not convince people to remain anonymous after winning a jackpot, I don't know what will.
