Litigation Proofing your lottery pool
Paris, Texas is wonderful this time of year! Motel rates are a bit pricey, but you can get a good deal if you're staying for the week. IF the jackpot annuity is at 100m, the cash value would be around 64m. After you divided it up, it won't quite be a million dollars. Of course, if you charge them for gas, mileage, entertainment fees (your car radio) for the drive to the lottery headquarters, you may be able to close that gap. This is also assuming that your pool is the sole winner of the

$260 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges
That they added $60 million after the previous $44 million increase definitely suggests that they were pretty close. If sales warranted an increase of $6 million it would mean they were following a $50 million increase with a $54 million increase. That seems far more cautious than necessary, given that any number over 300 probably guarantees very good sales. FWIW, snip is reporting sales of $90 million. That would mean 45 million tickets, and almost $30 million for the cash jackpot. Given the

How long can you go without playing?
The way I see it is, I'll be able to go without playing a penny for ever - in (hopefully at least) a few more decades... I guess I'll keep dreaming now, while I still can. But seriously, I wouldn't buy tickets in anything with a jackpot less than 16 million (in Canada, tax-free, no annuity), unless there are bonus things going on like the current 100k/yr for life bonus draw during feburary for the 6/49. But our chances are a lot better than powerball and megamillions.

DO you really lose money if u take the annunity over the lump sum?
Ronnie316, It's one of the things I leanred here at LP. The advertised jackpot, as a 'stash of cash' does not exist. The advertsied jackpot is what an annuity paid out over a number of years would be (pre-tax). That's why the lump sum is a lesser amount. Should someone win the PB Wednesday night and say Pay me the $305 million now , well, there is no $305 million set aside to pay someome with.

Mass. Lottery knew about exploited game's flaws for years, IG says
There are groups out there that play pick 5 games over the country when the jackpot reaches certain levels that make the return on dollar invested positive. Usually when a jackpot is $575k or more on a 575757 to one odds game is the wagering of large amounts in the tens of thousands are justified. You are going to get back a minimum of 20% of your money bet hitting two and three out of five. You might have dry spells for a long time but over time and with big pockets you will come out a winner.

scratch off strategy!
I like to play the 1,000,000.00 and 500,000.00 scratch tickets for my state, and doing so have noticed that two or more winning jackpot tickets are never in the same town That may seem to be the case, however, here in FL there have been several games which had a Top Prize come from the same town within a couple weeks of each other. These were also back-to-back winners. One game in particular ($20 game) had the first 3/4 winners come from the same city. Seemed pretty messed up! Why i

What does it say on the back of your state's tickets?
I don't have a Missouri ticket at the moment but this is from the Missouri Lottery website. Interesting as I don't think Missouri is listed as one of the anonymous states for PB and MM. $5 Million Instant Lottery Prize Claimed A $5 million top prize from the Missouri Lottery $5,000,000 Cash Extravaganza has been claimed. A lawyer representing Wisepenny Enterprises, LLC, claimed the prize on April 20. The winning ticket was purchased at Discount Smoke Shop, 340 S. Sprigg St., in Cape

48 Philly transit workers win $172M Powerball jackpot
You guys seem to be missing the point concerning why the majority of people take a chance against astronomical odds playing jackpot lottery games. Sure, I have played and continue to play the Illinois Daily lottery game from time to time (when the jackpot is at least 4 times the starting minimum). If I won that, would it be lifechanging? No, but I see the odds are better and I, of course, would not turn down any amount of lottery winnings. I also continue to play the Illinois state Lottery via s

N.Y. woman claims $70 million Powerball jackpot
What you do is point your car/truck west and go. Get the hell away from the East Coast, like you're supposed to do. With that kind of money, you can find a nice, far less congested neighborhood, in which to live. A neighborhood, not subject to snow and ice. I know I'd seek out a neighborhood, like the ones in 1960s tv sitcoms. Bewitched, Brady Bunch; Ideally Gilligan's Island. That's what I'd do. But, having taken the annuity option, I don't know. Cash option: NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.
