i'd guess it's a jackpot (annuity) amount payout that could be supported by the actual sales. since the supported amount is a little lower than the advertised amount, it means the jackpot is a bit underfunded. but the gap between supported and advertised looks to be shrinking with each drawing, so by the time someone wins it will probably be ok.

The Mega Millions jackpot is growing slower than last time because it is being over shadowed by the much larger Powerball jackpot. And/or more of the people who aren't addicted are sitting it out for more general reasons about MM itself. The sales forecast for Friday are up about 5% over the previous Friday, so maybe we'll see another modest increase for Friday 8/1, too. I'm finally done with my personal 100 forecasts test. Of course, this is for my own personal notes. I still have to post 100 forecast here in the League. Forecast #2 Level 0 was my 89th test and the only forecast that took more than 16 drawings to win. Here it won on the 7th drawing of the posted forecast but in my personal test it took 21 drawings to win. This just tells me it is totally possible to win 99 out of 100 forecasts using =52 any order combos, that always win within 16 drawings.

Even a town justice has extremely broad authority until a higher court (or the state board of judicial conduct) steps in. The judge can certainly order the lottery to extend the claim period but the lottery can appeal and potentially have a higher court allow them to follow their usual rules almost as soon as the ink is dry on the lower court's order.
