Illinois Little Lotto Jackpots 2010
Decided to go one more year since onenumber has been good about being the back-up when I can't get here. I'm going to tweak it just a little bit, adding the highest jackpot to date. PS, Player's Selection is now PP, Player's Pick as opposed to QP, Quick Pick. I'm listing PP first because that's what won the first jackpot of 2010, a nice one at that, $475,000. Illinois Little Lotto jackpots get up to $420M??!!! That's higher than any MM jackpot Ive ever heard of.... But again, I think there are repeats. There have been jackpots won smaller than $100M by more than one winner.

I remember a Powerball official once said that the reason they slow the growth of record jackpots is for marketing purposes. If they set a record jackpot of say, $700 million, they miss chances to set records at $400 million, $500 million, etc. However, what they DIDN'T consider was that if they don't take the record jackpots away from themselves, Mega Millions will, which is what is going to happen if the jackpot rolls tonight.

If anything, your argument proves no harm was done by raising the odds as more states were added and someone winning the jackpot on its first drawing can still happen. As you pointed out the jackpots haven't gotten any larger and they are still being won at the same frequency as they were with lower odds with fewer states. Sounds like they got it right, had they not raised the odds as states were added, the large jackpots which is the main attraction of the game couldn't exist.

Remember this is not one of those which came first the chicken or the egg type of situation, the jackpots are always established before a drawing so the number of jackpots will alway be one a head of the number of drawings until the game has it last drawing.

What!?? If you say NY has bad luck when it comes to MM jackpots what will you say about Massachusetts?? Ever since I moved to MA about 6 years ago only 1 jackpot has been won, 1!! otoh NJ is the haven for jackpots.

I live in Ohio which has MegaMillions but I can drive 2 hrs to Indiana to get PowerBall if I get the urge real bad to play. I use to do that but after gas prices went up I got real and realize that my chances of hitting the PB jackpots were no better than my chances of hitting the MM jackpots and chances of hitting either were better if I just put all my resources in one. Besides the money I save on gas can be used to buy more tickets.

I hope more states enter these two games adding more sales into higher jackpots, but the jackpots are being won fairly soon in PB without going over 200m even with those higher odds. I mean there were just five 2nd prize winners, and one of those had the correct powerball for the jackpot and the roll is done already. I think they need more drawing nights and maybe a third game between multi-state members just to keep more interest.

Not sure about cash 3 or 4. But I must say that there are two lucky retailers here in CA that have won the jackpots multiple times. One liquor store in has won the jackpot twice and smaller big ones about 6 times. The other so far has won twice, I wonder how, with 19k retailers have there been jackpots hit 3, 4 and 5 timesat certain locations when it is suppose to all be random.

People will still win. The jackpots may be higher at times. The lure of bigger jackpots is what attracts more players.
