Quest for lottery jackpot denied again
I'm one of those who can't understand why someone would go to the trouble to buy a ticket then never check it for a whole year.
I check my tickets right after the drawing. I guess because I really really really really really (did I say really?) want to retire. Really.

$HALF-BILLION! Powerball raised again on monster sales
Well, it was fun while it lasted. I enjoyed playing what if and looking into private jet cards and new houses but, honestly, I would be just as happy to win only enough to retire early and maintain my current middle class lifestyle.
Congratulations to the winners both large and small!

Post your scratch ticket results
Exactly rcbbuckeye. It has been 8 months since the last JP was claimed. So, people are spending $50 a ticket with zero chance of getting the JP in the last eight months! The lottery knows it and they are holding on to it until they feel it is time to let it out or it is time to retire it with 1 JP remaining! I feel they are printing a whole bunch more tickets and is hanging on to that winning ticket based on my calculation they should be running out but it keeps going and going like the Energize

GET OUT THE VIOLIN: Florida woman grieving about $5 million lottery win
Kudos, LottoMetro, for your astute sidenote. Ah, well, at least she's soon to be a rich liar and practiced, advanced strategy gambler.
Plus, she could work full time, retire in four years, and reap even more monies from a higher Social Security monthly payout! Then she's keep winning the game of life and retirement!

How did you do in the Lottery in 2014?
I watched lots of people bet $100 or more on one Craps, Blackjack, and Roulette outcomes, but there is a big difference in betting $100 on an even money bet or a 37 to 1 Roulette number and a 9999 to 1 pick-4 number. Player probably bets multiple numbers at around $10 a bet.
If they can win $490,000 for every $35,000 they bet, it shouldn't take too long before they can retire.

The Lottery Was Not Created For Poor People To Play
I've heard that phrase for years that poor people play more. I'm about as middle class as you can get, my wife and I make good money. But we are like most other middle class people in that we're stuck with just trying to pay off bills, get kids through college and wondering if we will ever get to retire and live comfortably.
I play because it's fun for me, and....it really is the only way I will ever have a shot at retiring comfortably. Having said that, I am fully aware of the odds and reali

NY lottery millionaire inspired by a dream
Congratulations to Edwina.
I know that if I won that prize, I would retire from my current job, because I do not make anywhere near that amount. Then I would look around for a good hobby or interest to keep me active.

NY lottery millionaire inspired by a dream
Congrats! That's a nice piece of change! I have to wonder though why the NY Lottery picks and chooses what winners to feature on their website.
She probably wasn't making 86k at her job to begin with so I bet she could retire and live the same lifestyle without issue. If she has time vested at work that's even better because she can add her pension to her income once she is eligible.
