$825 MILLION: Powerball jackpot raised due to surging ticket sales
I don't know of a specific instance, but because some of the really big jackpots got bumped several times between the initial jackpot announcement and the drawing I'd think it has happened. Whether it will get bumped up on a Saturday if the bump is only 10 or 15 million may be a different question than a bump to 850 or more. Let's hope it set a record....with 52 rolls If 40 is the current record a new record is reasonably possible. I suspect that at some point people will have spent eno

What are the rights of lottery players as consumers
I think you can get a good answer to your question by looking at what happened to the people who won the jackpots immediately after the fraudulent wins orchestrated by Eddie Tipton. The money claimed by Tipton and his accomplices obviously should have gone to other players but the lotteries fought the subsequent winners when they tried to claim to money that would have rolled over if Tipton's fraudulent wins hadn't taken it. In the case of the guy who won Hot Lotto the lottery tried to wease

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
Last night there was one winner of the FF5 jackpot for approximately $175,000. That's still about $20,000 lower than what we typically saw prior to Hurricane Ian. I haven't seen any jackpot winners listed on The Top Prize Report from Southwest Florida since the storm either. Electric power has been restored to most people in that area, but I'm sure many lottery retailers were entirely wiped out even if they do have power. The west coast winners I've seen on the report have all been Tampa

Glad to hear that. I've been thinking of you guys. I also have relatives in Tampa that are inland. They're expecting to lose power but not really have to deal with much damage. I wasn't living in Florida the first time I went across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It was spectacular! Coming from PA, I had never seen anything like that! I didn't play FF5 tonite but I'm expecting another low jackpot with Ian coming. The jackpots have been quite low the last 2 nights.

Do you have any weird lottery superstitions?
I used to frequently take road trips to other parts of my state and I'd buy my lottery tickets in other cities as opposed to my hometown just to see if I'd get different results. If the jackpots get really big, sometimes I'll buy multiple tickets from different stores in my area. Normally, there are a couple of stores I buy from, one near home and one near work but when it gets big, I might buy from other places in addition to those. Not sure if it answers your question, but it is someth

Three were women and two were men. But only the men picked their own numbers. All three ladies went with QP's. $46,498 X 5 = $232,490. Told ya them jackpots been shrinkin' lately. G5

Major claim deadline approaching for Illinois lottery winner of $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
When the lottery first started, we were told by our branch manager to read all the rules and regulations and all the details so we could answer any questions our bank customers might have. Of course we should always cross sell the other departments of our bank especially the services of The Trust Department. You know, should you die before collecting all funds of the jackpots, They Continue to send the checks or the direct deposits until the amount of the jackpot has been paid. Therefore, t

I thought about saying I deserve it instead of using the term worthy, but I thought using worthy sounded a little less in people's faces . It's not really in my nature to be so self oriented. Tonight I had four of the five winning numbers in my list of 18. (11,15,21, 34) I jumped a little when I saw that thinking I could have won a little cash. Not to be. Best I had was one number on each of four lines. But I didn't buy a ten line ticket either...5 bucks was all I spent. That's because I mi

Well, my hopes were dashed. I had numbers 2 10 on one of my JTP tickets. I was thinking this might be my big day! Nope! Lol But I live to play another day. And congrats to the one that finally broke the streak. When the Jackpot is $250k, the payout has been around $197k which has been a little more than FF5 jackpots lately. I think I'll divide my small lottery budget between the 2 games for now. It's time for the big win!

Quick Picks vs Self Picks, neither has an advantage
With odds of winning any prize playing MM at 24 to 1, it costs $48 just to have a reasonable chance of winning something. The odds of winning $10 are over 600 to 1 so it's more likely 48 bucks will get a return of $4 or less. I'll wait until the jackpots are close to the must win level before buy a few tickets.
