SUPERCOMPUTERS & Lotteries......
My opinion: Beating the world's #1 chess player does not require predicting random moves. It requires great speed from the computer, which allows it to compute many possible moves and eliminate those that would not be assistive in gaining a victory, within well-defined rules.Predicting (and actually hitting) winning lottery numbers requires predicting a great deal of randomness. I'm not at all certain that even a supercomputer can predict a random event. The same as with a human predicting, the

Todd For California Lottery Commissioner
Want to know the first thing I'd do? Look to get rid of the computerized drawings! Personally, I think the excitement generated by the media event of regular drawings, conducted in a roadshow around the state would make things really click for the state (or any state, for that matter). I think lotteries these days think about cutting costs as the best way to raise more money for the state, rather than focusing on the revenue side of the equation.I guess I'd have to compete with Dawn Nettles (T

Powerball jackpots
That's why I wanted to put this poll question in event that PB does go to a 5/55+1/42 format. This question will be a test to see what was the first jackpot of the new matrix. When MM was doing the 5/56+1/46 format, the first draw was 42 million.

CT Powerball?
The Mega Millions group has said on numerous occasions that they will not let any new states join. CT would've been stuck with Classic Lotto, although I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be classic anymore if such an event happened.

longest roll
Right to the point! Every draw is an independent event. But, more rollover means higher jackpots and more playing..... more winners..... higher possibility of a jackpot winner.

Why gamble at Online Lottery Sites?
Ah well.I'm not familiar with the off-shore site everyone has strong feelings about one way or the other. But I'm definitely grateful for the opportunity to play Euro Millions on the site Todd's provided. In the event I win something I'd prefer it to be through an outfit where there's no diversity of opinion concerning whether I'd actually see it paid. If I have my absolute druthers.I don't play online casino games, and under ordinary circumstances I wouldn't trust any online gambling site. I'

No Pepsi $Billion?
Pepsi would not have been responsible for the $1,000,000,000 prize. There are not that dumb. What companies do is purchase insurance from a company. They purchase a policy for x amount of dollars and in case of the event that there was a winner the insurance company would have to cover it. Brad

Hypothetical question...
Lottery companies know people are working on systems and methods. It wouldn't surprise me if they have a contigency plan in the event of a truly powerful prediction system coming to light. They would simply develop a means of drawing numbers to defeat it.
