I posed this question to the folks at MUSL several months ago when they first announced that they were moving to Florida and would change the matrix.Their answer was that people have been asking for bigger jackpots and changing the matrix would allow bigger jackpots.They know that most people will continue to play if there is any chance at all of winning a mind blowing jackpot.They also know that the higher the jackpot is the more tickets they will sell.

Thanks for the info RJOh. There have been a few jackpots over $100 million over the past year. MM of course has had more, but I am sure as soon as PB goes into the new matrix change all the people who want more $100+ million jackpots should be happy. Even if it means that the odds of winning the actual jackpot will be going way up.

For all we know, there could be a MIT lottery team operating now. With jackpots of $50M+, I certainly wouldn't be surprised to hear it has at least been considered. When lottery jackpots are claimed by a trust, we have no idea who the winners are.

I play Powerball twice a week because even its starting jackpot of $15,000,000 excites me.I also play MegaMillions twice a week because even its starting jackpot of $12,000,000 excites me.Of course I get more excited as the jackpots grow,but $12,000,000 $15,000,000 jackpots are nothing to sneeze at.

Regardless of any changes PowerBall might make, the players have to still feel it's worth buying a ticket or the game won't accomplish its goal of selling more tickets. Since its starting jackpots aren't likely to be more than $25M, it also have to attract its core players when the jackpots are low. I could see them adding another weekly drawing or upping the price of a tickets.

North Dakota has no online games that compete with it's Powerball games so it's obvious higher PB jackpots created in other states will impact ND ticket sales. All the states where Powerball games are their only online games are probably asking for three drawings a week to help boost the jackpots and of course ticket sales.

No no no. You guys misunderstood me. I said that big jackpots are rare AFTER there was a big jackpot. Normally there are a few small jackpots after a major one breaks out.

I don't know if anyone remembers but I remember when she was on some talk show( can't remember who's) in 1983 said she has won a few jackpots that's how I got started in playing p5 I ordered her book for $25. Then on May 24,1994, I won $30,000 using her system. She stated on the show that she has won a few jackpots using her system.

Even for fairly big jackpots, the probability of multiple winners is fairly low. For the probability of 2 winners to be greater than one winner we'd have to be well into new record territory.When the jackpot is only 20 million there's absolutely no chance ofwinning 30 milion. Anyone who concentrates their plays onsmall jackpots thinking they're more likely to be the only winner ismaking a mistake.
