Much Would You Invest?
I discarded my vote. After how long I have been playing I have seen stories on here about people winning two or three times so I can see why you did this poll.
As for me, however, I am now playing for more than 100k because I have kicked in enough in the 5 decades I have been playing. I am in on tonights Michigan pot for about 400k. If I actually won I would play for Two more years (depending on the jackpot size) because all the stories I have read about Michigan players winning two or three

Joining a lottery club?
Not worth joining a pool. Its $61 million IF the winner opts for the annuity.
Otherwise it is $36.9 million, before taxes. Take a third right off the top for taxes.
That leaves a bit over $24.6 million to split between the pool.
So 10 pool players would net about $2.46 million each with more taxes due at the end of the year.
Big difference between expecting $61 million, or $36.9 million and receiving 2.4 million.
But that's the reality.

The ever increasingly inflated jackpot prizes for MM and PB
The gulf between the cash and annuity options has become larger because inflation has prompted a rise in interest rates, which in turn results in potentially larger investment gains. With annuities, the jackpot cash is essentially invested and then paid out to winners over three decades.

Biggest reason for Lottery Winners going broke soon? :/
I just learned on Bloomberg that 70% of lottery winners spend or lose all the money within 5 years.
Even $500 million jackpot winners.
So smart move for most people is to take annuity option.
You are guaranteed to remain rich for 30 years.
Naturally I would still take the cash option but I'm a hedge fund manager who lives my life via spreadsheets.
The only thing I buy if I win is a 2023 Toyota Prius prime.
1% goes to charity and family and friends and 99% minus a Prius go

LF...... For the PB and the MM
Lottery winnings of $600.01 and over are subject to Federal Withholding tax. For winnings of $600.01, up to and including $5,000, you will be issued a W-2G form to report your winnings on your federal income tax form. For winnings of $5,000.01 and over, your state's Department of Revenue removes the 24% federal withholding before you receive your winnings check (or, if it is an annuity, from each winnings check). You then receive a W-2G form with each check to

$1 BILLION: Historic Powerball jackpot draw set for Monday
I might not have understood you right.
Even though picking the cash option would give you perfect anonymity, if you win the lottery in Texas, your plan is to take the annuity since you're anxious about managing the after-tax lump sum.
If only there were a team of people you could pay or have on retainer who's main profession is to manage their client's estate. /S
Personally, I'd go with law firm Davis Polk Wardwell due to:

EZ Match seems really pointless - I've tried it a few dozen times to just see if I could hit one of those $250 prizes...
Not even a $1 back. Id rather just buy another ticket for the $1.

Mega millions jackpot- billion dollars? (REDUX)
Typically, there should be 15 or 20 people hitting 5 numbers with a jackpot this big.
You might want to pay attention to reality for a change of pace. 15 5+0 winners is wildly unusual, because the number of winners usually matches probability fairly well. The chance of winning the 5+0 prize for MM is 1 in 12.6 million. Last Friday's drawing had sales of about 58.5 million tickets so 5 winners was the most likely result, assuming nothing made the winning numbers more or less popular than if

Predicting winning numbers? Fact or fiction?
1 away are the 10 to 12 numbers on either side of the drawn numbers.
A 1 or 47 can only have a 2 or 46 that is 1 away , for example.
Will you share your math that gets you 1 away ?
Also, since you do not post your numbers in the Predictions on this site to get an accurate success metric overall, will you post all of your tickets with red circles and green underlines, even when it doesn't win you a few bucks? Let's see how you do every draw, not just the winners.
