$750 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges to 4th-largest ever
LottoLucy, At the place where I usually play there is a sign now from the Illinois lottery by the play slips that says PB IS NOW $750 Million, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH ALL THAT TIME. So to an unaware player (the real target audience for the hype) that would certainly imply a $750M win, no? And it's by the lottery, not the media, so it's not just the media. I would like to see a media person though at one of the lottery outlets ask a few players What is the jackpot? And how much wou

$750 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges to 4th-largest ever
If I were the sole winner of the 750M+ j/p? I would take it as an annuity. Probably would take some getting use to - having to budget with only an 11M+$ gross check year 1... but I think I could learn to tough it out... specially since the check would grow by 5%/yr - that should take the sting out of it for me... ... 11M+$... worst case 6M+ after all taxes and fees ... just over 500k/month ... 16k+/day ... I might just be able to squeak by

Winner of $1.5B lottery jackpot donates some winnings to Alabama tornado victims
Artist77, Thanks for your advice. I know that critics come with the territory. I do change my mind. Like not taking the Annuity. I wish I could tell you and all the LP Members about my living situation. It will all be revealed with a major win tonight. Besides saying the word NO, I will create a short sentence that I can repeat because sometimes the other person does not hear my NO. A long the lines of, Thank You for asking but at this time I will refer you to my Money Manager

Congratulations, you've just won the lottery
s5thomps, I agree with #7. But if those random strangers come back to you again and again then it would be time for them to seek professional help. #8 Warren Buffet has said, That he expects the Dow Jones to reach 1,000,000 within 100 years. Once in the market stay in it and ride the roller coaster. Up and Down but stay in it. As usual, that is easier said than done. Like you might have a stock or mutual fund that is in free fall and you think to yourself, I better get out of it n

What would you do if you won a $300 mil jackpot?
Is that $300 mil the annuity amount or the cash value? First of all, I would get a financial team together because either way....it's a lot of money! My brother and I both play and have agreed that whoever wins will split with the other, so I get 50% of the $300 mil or $180 cash value. Second, I would pay off all my debts. Third, buy a new car. I have never owned a New car. After that, it's clear sailing for the rest of my life.

Florida man putting $14.5 million lottery win toward education in India
I find that a common mistake new winners make is assuming that they will get the annuity or the whole cash value amount. They do not calculate the taxes still owed. Here is where a CPA will come in handy. Before you claim your prize. Making promises and pledges to friends and family even before winning is another mistake. Not creating financial goals to last your lifetime and beyond. Past winners have made it difficult for future winners when they give too much away. The beggars ass

Why doesn't Mega Millions show decimals in their CASH VALUE?
as much as $900,000 off from the actual figure. Their estimated jackpot is occasionally off by $60 million or so, but at least they don't round the cash value to the nearest million. If they did that it would sometimes be claimed as 400k more than it really is. you insist the MM site provide something you've never done on the LP. Yeah. And why aren't there weather reports on Lottery Post? And traffic reports? I mean other sites have them, and sometimes we might be aware that the oth

$750 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges to 4th-largest ever
WHAT'S THE REST OF US SUPPOSED TO DO? Nobody told you you couldn't play the numbers that were drawn, did they? at least 150 or so people That would be a whopping $10.25 million each if they took the annuity. Cash after federal taxes would be just under $3.7 million. If that's what you want to win you should play a game that offers that sort of prize or make sure you've got enough people in the pool you play in. if this isn't won and it rolls, we are back to another 1B$ jack
