NEWBIE ... please be gentle
That's because you're using 100 as the pool instead of 10. The odds calculator will give you box odds not straight for Pick-3/4. If you do Pick-3 and put in 3 picked from a pool of 10 with 3 drawn it will give you 1 in 120 the boxed odds, no doubles no triples. So for Pick-2 put in 2 picked from a pool of 10 with 2 drawn it will give you 1 in 45 the boxed odds discarding the mirror combinations and doubles. BobP

I can get closer to a win doing just all ODD/Evens
If you're using a system that clearly defines the parameters of the numbers in your number pool and the number of combinations you play then you can figure out how likely the winning numbers would have been in the pool and if they had a chance of matching two or better in any of the combinations you played.
Even if you had all the winning numbers in your pool you would have to be lucky to have two or more of the winning numbers on the same line if you just played a few lines.

Man quits lottery pool, then wins with Quick Pick
I've always said you have just as good a chance of winning on your own as you do in a pool -- the difference being that when you play on your own you get to keep the whole thing.
My advice is to not go out of your way to start a pool. If there's an office pool kicking around then sure, it makes perfect sense to chip in. But don't make it your primary way to play.

What is the perfect number?
Any number of people in a lottery pool is fine as long everyone is agreeable about the amount of money each contributes.
Personally, if the pool isn't buying more tickets then I usual buy on my own, I not interested in it. For example I'm not interested in being in a pool that buys $5 worth of tickets, I would rather buy that many tickets on my own.

Restaurant workers split $4 million lottery jackpot
A person knows BEFOREHAND that they will end up splitting it with whoever is in the pool with them, so to them it doesn't matter. If they win, great, and if they don't, oh well. If someone asked me if I wanted to put in $1 towards a pool of tickets, I probably will. I'm not going to say, Well if we have the winning ticket, that means I have to split it with you people, so I'm not going to . $287,000 is still better NOTHING. I'm sure you wouldn't complain if you won $287,000. I also bet you woul

Is Pool Depth Copyrighted?
1. Is Pool Depth as it relates to the lottery a copyrighted word?
2. Does anyone use this as a way of selecting combinations? Especially Pick 3?

How to get started?
Where I worked we sort of had an online pool because the guy that ran it communicated with us using email. Every Monday we paid him for the next two draws, he sent out emails reminding us and gave a time and location of where he would be. Anyone not paying on time was considered out of that pool. He also scanned and sent us copies of the tickets he purchased.
An Online pool with players in other cities and states where you couldn't physcially pay in person could become very difficult to manag

would you play in a jackpot pool
I think most LP members would be happy to participate in lottery pool with other members if someone else would picked up the cost. After all many members post numbers for other to play everyday.
I suggest anyone interesting in starting such a pool post the rules, the limitations, the game and cover the cost themselves. Maybe offer a small share of the winnings (maybe $2) to each participants if the pool win a jackpot or second prize, anything less they keep it all for themselves. The part

would you play in a jackpot pool
I say, any lottery pool of any kind (friends, family or co-workers) can't be a good pool! As everyone here knows, a jackpot (of any size) can and will bring out the worst in someone in that pool!
Sorry, it's a fact of life.

If I reduce the MM or PB number pool by half and play 3o2e/3e2o...(?)
First, you aren't reducing the number pool at all. Each of the 56 choices can be used in any combination that mixes odd and even. If you want to reduce the number pool to half you'd actually eliminate half of them from consideration. Whether you get rid of all the odd numbers, all the even numbers, 1 to 28, 29 to 56, or eliminate half of them at random, cutting the number pool in half means choosing from a pool of 28 numbers. Picking 5 numbers from a pool of 28 there are 98,280 possible combina
