Why not choose the annuity?
On a million dollars, I would take the lump sum. If I netted $400k after taxes, I would use the money to buy a house with cash, thus I could invest $15k a year from monthly savings from not having a house payment into investments. Now if the winnings was $100 million or higher, I would most likely take the annuity. It would be a safe guard against me ever spending all the money. When people retire, they care about cash flow income. With me knowing I would have money coming in for the rest of my

Would you quit your job if you won the lottery?
Most stories I've read about winners who won a lot then stayed on the job said the winners had problems with co-workers. Many of their co-workers figured they should resign and let someone who needed the job take it. I imagine in most regular work places, with regular workers (not professionals, or people unique jobs) that co workers feel that way. If you win enough to retire, and want to work, I'm sure you could figure out some other way to work or keep busy. That's what I would do. But, whatev

Would you quit your job if you won the lottery?
Very true. Where I work, there would be hard feelings if I won and kept working. I sell furniture, commission sales. So I know that there would other sales people saying why is he taking ups that I could have, and taking sales that I need? I would definitely retire. I'm 60, so I would just fish, and travel, and enjoy life if I ever get so lucky.

$70 million Calif. SuperLotto winner comes forward
nice hit, but hardly a noticeable blip of interest to those of you who only acknowledge a 200+ million jackpot or more. can't believe it took a month and he still hasn't decided on whether to buy a new car or house which would probably retain it's value or the interest he lost by waiting would have covered a car by now. he also can't decide whether or not to retire from a job he doesn't have. go cash the ticket for crying out loud. no one is interested in scamming him after he gets his 30+ milli

$12M Texas Lottery jackpot set to expire Monday
It was a cash value tic worth about 7.90 million. The 12 million was the annuity amount. Still enough to retire on for me. Unfortunately, I have never ever been in League City, never mind bought a lotto tic there.

Why is the Ohio Classic Lotto so difficult to win?
Unless you were lucky to win the current OCL jackpot of $68 million and netting about $19 million after ALL taxes are deducted, forget about living off the interest of a smaller OCL jackpot as it starts as a $1 million annuity which would offer a cash option of about $300k after taxes. Interest on the $19 million at today's rate would bring you about $80k per year. Interest on the starting jackpot cash option of $300k would support your lifestyle with about $120 in interest per month...not ex

Oregon Lottery winner won't retire
Or one of the smartest. Maybe he's just not a moron. He'd have to be exceptionally stupid to think that a pre-tax income of $52k is really enough to retire on at 34 years old.

Do you have specific plans as to what you will be doing after your PB/MM win?
